Chemical Risk Manager - New/Novel Ingredients
Our Mars Global Pet Segment is at the forefront of the Research and Development for novel and new solutions for pet health and nutrition. As we branch into new territories, the implementation of new ways of working to manage and anticipate the food safety challenges will be a priority.
The Chemical Risk Manager for New/Novel Ingredients is an essential function in ensuring the safety of pets, pet parents and associates. This role will lead effective and comprehensive chemical risk management. Preventing toxicological risk through hazard identification, risk analysis, mitigation, analytical surveillance and promoting a culture of knowledge about chemical hazards among all Petcare associates are key elements to the Q&FS strategy.
What are we looking for?
Advanced degree in chemistry or toxicologyMinimum of 5 years' experience as a toxicologist/chemical risk manager in the food or feed industry. Demonstrated veterinary toxicology expertise preferred.Knowledge of analytical techniques, ability to evaluate method appropriateness for relevant matrices and interpretation of results.
What would your key responsibilities be?
Support the development and deployment of the novel material food safety strategy for Petcare.Conduct hazard identification/characterization in all steps of novel material development from scoping to product development, evaluation (analytical and animal trials), deployment and commercialization.Establish the risk profile for the novel material considering the supply chain and its maturity.Conduct desktop risk assessment for all novel material, determine the risk levels, and propose adapted and ingredient specific validation strategies including analytical testing, NAMs, animal testing, in market deployment (Test and Learn)Support prioritization of novel material development from a food safety perspective.Contribute to the development of animal trials protocols and review results.Review all safety information generated and deliver expert recommendation on novel material safety to the toxicological COP for endorsement.Support food safety substantiation for novel material dossiers and regulatory challengeEnsure Q&FS principles are governed throughout the process.
