Responsibilities
Designs chemical plant equipment and devises processes for manufacturing chemicals and products, such as gasoline, plastics, detergents, cement, paper, and pulp. Conducts research to develop new and improved chemical manufacturing processes. Designs and plans layouts and oversees personnel engaged in constructing, controlling and improving equipment for carrying out chemical processes on a commercial scale. Determines most effective arrangement of operations such as condensers, absorption and evaporation towers, columns and stills. Typically is the entry position for incumbents with necessary education and/or experience.
Qualifications
Entry. Performs routine assignments in the discipline or function. Typically requires a college or university degree or the equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts. Develops competence by performing structured work assignments. Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems. Works with direct supervision. Impact of work is primarily within own organization.
