Did you know that Banner Thunderbird provides the highest level of maternity care in the West Valley, and that it is one of the leading providers of maternity care in the entire state? It’s true. Our doctors and nurses have the expertise and experience to care for some of the most complex pregnancies and deliveries, including women with pregnancies complicated by diabetes, high blood pressure and premature labor. Additionally, our neonatal intensive care unit enables us to care for babies born at any gestational age. Banner Thunderbird utilizes a sophisticated electronic medical records system to ensure better, safer care for you and your baby. This system has been proven to prevent medical errors and to provide more comprehensive care for mothers and babies.

For newborns facing serious health challenges, Banner Thunderbird offers a 17-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Our multidisciplinary team of pediatric specialists, nurses, neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners and respiratory therapists partner to provide the highest level of care available in the West Valley to our newborn patients. Very premature babies are assigned a developmental specialist. To encourage bonding, parents of babies in our NICU can enjoy unlimited visiting hours.
