  The Boeing Global Services – Commercial Modifications and Freighter Conversions Team is looking for a motivated and experienced Level 4 Senior Certification Engineer to join the Safety, Certification, and Performance (SC&P) team. This is a high visibility role with leadership and technical assignments that directly support FAA Modifications and Conversions programs & initiatives in the areas of airplane certification and special projects. This role is ideally suited for a current associate technical fellow or technical fellow, or an individual on the technical fellowship path. This position is located in Long Beach, California .

  Position Responsibilities:

  Acts as advisor to engineering management on certification strategies as the applicant to FAA projects

  Proposes and successfully executes new and novel certification initiatives for post Type Certification projects

  Provides detailed guidance to the Modifications and Conversions organization on successfully navigating complex certification issues

  Partners with the Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) and Regulatory Administration (RA)

  Rapidly understands complex technical concepts across multiple engineering disciplines.

  Takes initiative to directly collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to build consensus, develop integrated plans, and demonstrate beginning to end accountability.

  Exhibit excellent technical, written and verbal communication skills.

  Mentors others

  This is a hybrid position that allows limited telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite 4 to 5 days per week. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

  The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

  Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics

  8+ years of engineering experience

  5+ years of engineering experience in the Aerospace Industry

  Experience with airplane certification and working with FAA and EASA regulations

  Experience working FAA and foreign regulatory agencies’ procedures and regulations

  Experience leading through influence and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives

  Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  Experience with the Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) Procedures Manual and affected processes and procedures

  Experience working with Regulatory Administration (RA)

  Experience working with Safety and Airworthiness (SAW)

  Experience with Part 25 certification (FAA Airworthiness Standards: Transport Category Airplanes)

  Working experience with FAA Order 8100.15 and 8110.4.

  Experience working with the FAA, particularly the ODA Office/Organization Management Team (OMT)

  Communication skills: Ability to translate complex issues into cohesive, actionable components and communicate at an executive level.

  Integration skills: Ability to build consensus, negotiate, and empower teams to deliver results where process definition may not yet exist or is unclear.

  Experience as (or currently holding a role as) a Design Approval Engineer (DAE)

  Experience as (or currently holding a role as) a member of the ODA, i.e. Engineering Unit Member (E-UM), Project Administrator (PA), etc.

  Experience with Part 25 Airworthiness Notifications of Noncompliance

  Experience mentoring others

  Typical Education/ Experience:

  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  Relocation:

  This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

  Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

  Summary Pay Range: $128,350- $173,650

  Export Control Requirements: U.S. Government Export Control Status: This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.

  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
