Job Description
The Catering Services Supervisor provides support in all services of a booked event and is responsible for the process of servicing and managing assigned events for the catering department. This includes but is not limited to room set ups and break downs, communicating with clients and customers, and directing the work of service worker staff. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to effectively communicate, and operate office efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Job Responsibilities
Takes ownership of assigned events/BEO?s and executes assigned events following the details on the BEO/catering contract.
Responsible for filling required catering event documentation (BEO?s, schedule, consumption reports, labor sheets and rentals)
Communicates with GU clients, external specific event planner and customers.
Operates office equipment like laptops, copy machines, etc.
Consults with higher level authority for resolution of difficult issues.
Submits and processes invoices associated with assigned catering event in coordination with the Catering Sales Manager
Sets up internal meetings, including preparation
Responsible for data entry and analytical work.
Seeks to improve efficiency of daily operations while directing daily activities
Maintains timely, accurate and detailed documentation required by management
Possess professional etiquette
Outstanding customer service and interact effectively with customers, employees, and the broader community.
Produce and maintain work schedules for weekly catering events and may prepare production records.?
Maintains food handling and transportation that ensures the safety and quality of food according to policies, procedures, and department requirements.?
Ensure that food items are stored in a safe, organized, and hazard-free environment.?
Maintain all food service serving schedules; ensure that all food items are served per menu specifications in a food-safe manner following all DOH and company regulations, and appropriate manner according to departmental policies and procedures.?
Maintain a sanitary department following health and safety codes and regulations.?
Supervise and evaluate employees; counsel; promote employee growth, efficiency, morale, and teamwork.?
Support clients in booking events with the catering department, creation of BEOs, etc.
Ensures room/event set up, tables, food stations, bars etc. are set up following BEO diagrams following exceeding department standards and industry trends
Qualifications
Previous customer service experience required
1-3 years previous catering event supervisor/ banquet captain experience
Candidates should have a validated understanding of computers, Microsoft Office, printers, fax machines, telephones, and photocopiers
Understanding of catering styles of service, sequence of service and catering event execution
Shows initiative, follows established procedures
Excellent verbal and written communication & listening skills
Demonstrates self-development, and integrity
Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Strong digital literacy skills required i.e. Microsoft office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Strong problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills
Ability to resolve interpersonal situations?
High School Diploma/GED required
1-3 years previous administrative or office experience preferred
