Description
We are in search of a Category Buyer to join our team in the manufacturing industry in Youngstown, Ohio.
Responsibilities
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with the company's strategic targets and policies.
• Handle the company's requirements for optimal strategic positions in terms of quantity, quality, and time, at the most favorable economic conditions.
• Consolidate needs on a North American basis to achieve competitive advantage and cost savings.
• Analyze cost data, perform make or buy analysis, and provide recommendations for cost savings and additional value-add items to internal stakeholders.
• Prepare invitations to quote (RFQs), source effectively, and obtain proposals on assigned requirements.
• Analyze commercial offers, compare them, and provide recommendations for equalization.
• Develop negotiation strategies, taking into consideration the targets of the acquisition process, and lead negotiations with selected suppliers.
• Continuously evaluate the supplier market and market trends, and optimize the supplier base through information evaluation and supplier benchmarking.
• Manage all aspects of purchasing contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance to terms and conditions throughout the agreement term.
• Manage relationships between the company and the suppliers, assisting with their qualification and evaluation.
• Identify and implement purchasing levers to reduce the total cost of ownership and submit recommendations for savings or process improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to obtain competitive advantage for the local business units.
• Comply with all EHS rules required for the work environment.
Requirements • Must have a substantial understanding of steel manufacturing processes and market trends.
• Proficient in using CRM, eProcurement, and ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
• Demonstrates excellent knowledge of buying processes within the steel manufacturing industry.
• Proven ability to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
• Exceptional customer service skills are required to build and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Must have excellent negotiation and decision-making abilities.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate supplier proposals and market conditions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and presentation.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information to various stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
• Must be detail-oriented, with strong organizational and planning skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is preferred.
• Prior experience in a similar role within the steel manufacturing industry is desirable.
