NCC is a 501c3 with an exceptional 65-year history of providing services in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. We help individuals across the lifespan live, grow, work, and thrive. Through NCC’s Early Learning and Early Intervention Center, we provide services to children with and without disabilities ages zero to five in an inclusive educational environment. Students also have access to a variety of on-site therapies and healthcare professionals to ensure early detection and treatment of disabilities and delays. We empower parents and caregivers with tools to support the growth and development of their children. Through our Community Support Services, adults with disabilities who are 18 and older can live independently in the community with the help of our residential teams. Adults have an opportunity to learn life skills, discover new passions, pursue careers, build relationships, and make meaningful contributions to their community.

Internship overview :
This internship is comprised of 3 main components:
Professional Development :
During the duration of the internship period, interns will participate in discussions with thought leaders and respected professionals in diverse careers across the District of Columbia to learn about building successful careers, navigating work-life balance, exploring passions with confidence, and taking risks. In addition to thought leader discussions, interns will also be paired with a mentor to discuss personal aspirations and career development.
Teamwork and Collaboration:
NCC’s 2024 Catalyst cohort will work together to complete a group assignment. They will also learn about skills required for networking and relationship-building across different fields and disciplines. The Catalyst cohort will have opportunities for shared experiences together through service learning out in the community.
Problem Solving:
Outside of days set aside for group work, service learning, and professional development, interns will have the opportunity to take a deep dive into core departments vital to NCC’s operations. Interns will be tasked with identifying inefficiencies within existing processes for their assigned department by conducting workflow assessments.
