The Boeing Company is looking for a Command and Control (C2) Software Engineer (Experienced/Senior) in Herndon/Leesburg, VA; Mesa, AZ; or El Segundo/Seal Beach, CA that will support the Advanced Mission Management (AMM) software engineering organization supporting the Satellite Operations & Ground Systems (SOGS) program execution.
The AMM organization executes software development across multiple program domain areas to deliver analytics, planning, scheduling, command & control, and mission management capabilities focused on ground user and mission needs. These software systems are integral to the daily execution of stakeholders’ missions helping to solve intelligence and DoD war fighter strategies.
The organization is seeking a hardworking, motivated, and creative software developer to engineer new C2 solutions and capabilities for agile software programs. This engineer will assist with development of software systems developed on cloud infrastructures following modern DevSecOps and Agile execution process. The customer’s needs require state-of-the-art, software-intensive systems to efficiently and optimally task, plan, exploit, and disseminate data for hardware platforms (e.g. satellites, ground systems, etc.) for maximum stakeholder value.

Primary Responsibilities:
Assist with and lead C2 software design, coding and, unit/integration testing of customer desired features/user stories
Involved with the development & modifications to new and existing software products
Contribute to the creation of new distributed components and interactions that align with the future system architecture requirements
Coordinate with peers, leadership, management, and product/customer stakeholders to successfully accomplish software tasking to meet roadmap acceptance criteria
Help define, execute, and improve software development processes, procedures, and best practices to drive engineering efficiencies, high quality, and increased team productivity
This position hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI eligible Security Clearance (US Citizenship Required). (A U.S Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
CI Poly required after the selected candidate has started employment.
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in software development using C, C++, Java, and Shell, Perl, and/or Python.
5+ years of experience working within Unix/Linux environments using command line terminals and GUI based desktop environments.
5+ years of software development experience in a collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process including code reviews and automated DevSecOps processes/tools.
Familiar with reading, writing, and integrating XML formatted data described by XSD, while utilizing XML DOM, JAXB, XPath, and XInclude.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiar with primitive data type machine representations in binary, hexadecimal, IEEE754 encoding, twos complement encoding, sign magnitude encoding, digital/analog conversion, and endianness.
Experience using team collaboration tools including JIRA, Confluence, and Gitlab Runners
Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain (Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, etc)
Experience using SonarQube and/or Coverity to instrument, trend and manage code quality
Experience developing containerized microservices deployed into a cloud based orchestration framework such as AWS, Docker Swarm, or OpenShift.
Mention any experience working with 1 or more Space Domain Standards, such as XTCE, CCSDS, IRIG, TDM, and/or GEMS.
Mention any experience working with 1 or more COTS Spacecraft T&C Product, such as OS/Comet, InControl, Neptune, COSMOS, YAMCS, Epoch, Eclipse, ASCS, HiFly, or others.
Experience using C++ Standard Library and Boost Extensions with the GNU Compiler.
Experience using the C++20 and later language extensions and features.
Knowledge of modern security facilities (e.g. SSH, SSL/TLS, Public/Private and AES Encryption, et al.)
Experience building REST based services and/or applications that communicate with REST services
Ability to understand user interactions and develops a user experience that accomplishes the desired user interactions.
Typical Education/Experience Level 3 Experienced:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Typical Education/Experience Level 4 Senior:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range:
Level 3 $104,550 - $151,800
Level 4 $122,400 - $177,100
