Business Underwriting Associate

We are seeking a motivated and fast learner with good quantitative, analytical, and communication skills to be accountable for a portfolio of credit line decisions up to $350K exposure.
In this role, you will have primary accountability for analyzing business and personal financial conditions to evaluate credit worthiness and prepare detailed recommendations for loan decisions. You will assess financial statements and additional data to understand revenues, profitability, cashflow, sustainability, and overall risks. You will present your decisions to senior approvers, to field sales, partners, and directly to clients.
General Responsibilities:
Make credit recommendations on cases up to $350K exposure and maintain individual signing authority up to $150K exposureConduct business interviews to understand client business model, sources of revenue, merchant spend, and future projectionsAssess business financial performance against policy guardrailsEvaluate future business growth potential, market competitiveness, and industry risksPrepare clear, concise analysis supporting credit memos that recommend decisions and address rationale for any deviations from loan policy, procedures and guidelinesIdentify and mitigate key credit risksMaintain satisfactory level of portfolio losses while meeting expectations of loan revenuesAdhere to all applicable regulations and the expected execution standardsRequest additional business and personal information to address key identified risksDemonstrate exceptional service in all interactions with clients and partnersMonitor portfolio performance to identify trends and alignment to expectations
Ideal Candidate:
Ability to prioritize assignments and multi-task with strong attention to detailDemonstrated experience working collaborativelyStrong analytical, problem-solving, verbal and interpersonal skills
Basic Qualifications:
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelors or higher with an expectation that degree will be obtained by July 2024 or earlier.
Preferred Qualifications:
Related Coursework in Finance, Accounting, Statistics or EconomicsIn process of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Economics, Accounting, Finance1+ years of experience in financial statement analysis1+ years of experience preparing financial information or 1+ year of experience interpreting financial performanceLeadership experience
