Core Responsibilities
Business Development and Deal Negotiations (50% of time)
Identify and screen potential new clients - overall business objectives, budget, programming needs, etc.
Prepare detailed deal proposals/presentations, term sheets.
Negotiate deals for all kinds of WBD content sales across digital and linear markets.
Support division VP to analyze financial and other business terms of potential deals.
Post-sales and Other Coordination (30% of time)
Coordinate with clients, with corporate headquarters (legal, contract admin, finance, technical operations) on a variety of contract issues including drafting of detailed long form contracts and amendments, billing/collections, program selection and scheduling, marketing commitments, etc.
Closely coordinate efforts with WBD Antipiracy team in Burbank - particularly for China Internet deals and OTT deals.
Coordinate with other corporate divisions as required (Home Ent, Theatrical, Consumer Products, Turner, HBO & Discovery) on issues ranging from windowing coordination to the sharing of materials, etc.
Financial Planning (20% of time)
With oversight from the division VP, developing and executing on overall strategy to grow revenue.
Regularly review and update China digital media revenue projections for Program Licensing deals.
Be able to deal with all internal systems alone for sales and financial projection purpose.
Update bi-weekly report and monthly report on activities in China.
Perform on-going market research on trends, competitors, new laws/regulations, etc. for the China market.
Analyze client needs, market trends and the product inventory to come up with new ways to increase revenues in the territory.
Benchmark pricing and performance (number of buys) of our products versus the competitor’s & present findings to senior executives on a regular basis.
Qualifications & Experience:
4 year university degree required.
Minimum 5 years experience in business development (must have a solid track role record of closing deals).
Deep understanding and contacts in the digital media sector, particularly in China.
Work experience at a large North American or European multinational corporation and effective at working with global headquarters.
Effective at managing local Chinese clients.
Bright, motivated, proactive.
Able to quickly understand/develop new business models.
Excellent initiative, organizational and prioritization skills, with ability to work quickly and effectively under time pressure.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to work across multiple disciplines and locations.
Excellent computer skills, such as PPT, excel, etc.
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and in English (both spoken and written)
