The Health Storefront Tech (HST) team is passionately working to build a best-in-class healthcare product designed to make high-quality healthcare easy to access. The HST Analytics and Data Engineering team is comprised of Business Intelligence and Data Engineers that partner closely with the Data Platform SDE team to build and manage the reporting infrastructure, reporting tables and data models of the workstreams we support in HST and other AHS (Amazon Health Services) teams. We also provide data ingestion, automation and visualization solutions. We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to support analytics team as we build to support HST, Clinic and Amazon pan-health initiatives in reporting, analysis and metrics development.
This role requires deep technical expertise, and gives you the opportunity to engineer systems and build reliable and secure data reporting for healthcare services at Amazon. You have an eye towards quality, and insist on the highest standards. You are motivated to tackle ambiguous situations with technologies to rapidly solve problems. You are a team player, contribute to the execution of team objectives, and leverage technical knowledge and engineering best practices to rapidly deliver solutions that have a broad business impact.
Key job responsibilities
Define the data elements to enable analytical and reporting capabilities, and work cross-functionally with other business intelligence teams
Own the design, development, and maintenance of the data models that support ongoing metrics, reports, and analyses used to drive key business decisions
Use expertise in qualitative and quantitative analysis to deliver actionable insights to stakeholders
Use business intelligence and visualization software (e.g., Quicksight.) to develop dashboards that are used by senior leadership, HST and other health organizations
Drive data democratization throughout the organization, enabling others to self-serve their data needs. Empower technical and non-technical, internal customers to drive their own analytics and reporting (self-serve reporting) and support ad-hoc reporting when needed.
Develop deep understanding of vast data sources and know exactly how, when, and which data to use to solve particular business problems.
Design and influence operational best practices for reporting and analytics to enable the team to scale as we grow
Work with Product Managers, Engineering, Finance, Marketing teams and other stakeholders on need basis to support their new analytics requirements.
Manage numerous requests concurrently and strategically, prioritizing when necessary.
Partner/collaborate across teams/roles to deliver results.
A day in the life
As a successful candidate you will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. You will help build analytics in an ambiguous space and help the organization implement secure reporting infrastructure that safely handles personal health information (PHI). You will partner cross-organizationally with Pharmacy and other health teams to develop a traffic and marketing data mart that can provide aggregated organizational reporting for marketing and traffic initiatives that spans all Amazon Health businesses. In addition to strong data analytics skills, you need proven experience and strong business acumen to understand complex business and form analytics framework in a highly ambiguous environment. You must be comfortable working at both the strategic level (using customer insights and data to generate innovative ideas) and at the tactical level (building dashboards and monthly reports to measure business health). You must also possess strong project management and influencing skills, and will work cross-functionally with other teams to achieve success.

Basic Qualifications
2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
Experience with one or more industry analytics visualization tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and statistical methods (e.g. t-test, Chi-squared)
Experience with scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, or R)
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree, or Advanced technical degree
Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design
Knowledge of how to improve code quality and optimizes BI processes (e.g. speed, cost, reliability)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $65,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $165,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
