Amazon Web Services (AWS) U.S. Higher Education team is leading a paradigm shift in how is cloud is building resilience and fueling innovation in universities and colleges across the country. The Higher Education team is in search of an exceptionally qualified individual with broad experience helping higher education institutions improve their capabilities for data driven decision making, and enabling innovation through data.
You will lead the Higher Education team data and analytics strategy, programs, and go-to-market, working directly with colleges and universities, technology companies, and services companies. You will have experience working in or with Higher Education institutions, including with senior institutional leaders such as the President, Provost, CIO, CFO, Institutional Research, and other vice presidents. A business or product background, with experience building and implementing go-to-market plans is also important. You should have a demonstrated ability to dive deep into business problems, propose solutions, and overcome technical challenges in a fast-paced environment. A successful candidate demonstrates an ability to earn trust with multiple internal and external stakeholders, strong ownership, and teamwork.
Key job responsibilities
Serve as a highly credible expert on using data to improve student, faculty, administrator, alumni, and donor experiences with higher education executives, AWS partners, and within AWS.
Develop repeatable solutions, offerings, frameworks, and models that help higher education customers answer questions with their data and accelerate adoption of cloud-based analytics approaches.
Roll up your sleeves and work directly with institutions and partners, levering your expertise with higher education challenges, data, and modern analytics tools.
Work with internal teams, partners, and external stakeholders to build repeatable solutions, programs, coalitions, and models to transform how data and technology are leveraged by colleges and universities.
Identify gaps in solutions and influence joint AWS and partner solution development;
Drive GTM (Go-To-Market) strategies, work with AWS service teams to influence product roadmap;
Provide thought leadership through events, white papers, blogs, and social media to capture customer mindshare in the higher education domain;
Travel (30%) and ability to work autonomously.
About the team
The Higher Education Vertical team is a team of industry-experienced subject matter experts who care deeply about impacting the missions of teaching, research, and community engagement through the implementation of AWS technologies and solutions. We think big, and dive deep with customers, working backwards from their unique industry challenges to build and implement solutions that improve the experiences of students, faculty, and other higher education stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
10+ years of experience supporting executive leaders in higher education, including recent experience with cloud-based data and analytics solutions
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of big data businesses and technical concepts
Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders
Experience with, and detailed knowledge of the support market and insights related to cloud computing and IT
PhD or other advanced degree with a relevant higher education or statistics focus; 5+ years of management consulting and/or solutions consulting experience; experience working across multiple segments of the higher education market; and experience in business development and/or technology sales

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $140,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $262,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
