CAREIALL is currently in development and scheduled to be released for the 2024-25 school year. Currently, the CAREIALL course is one of three approved and required training courses for all Minnesota teachers around the Science of Reading. This position actively supports and advances the University's and CAREI's commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. The Literacy Development Manager will use their extensive Literacy content expertise to increase the capacity of local and state education agency staff to implement evidence-based literacy practices. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise and experience in the area of literacy instruction, curriculum, and assessment, as well as experience in sales and product support. The candidate must be highly organized and skilled in verbal and written communication. This position will report directly to the Associate Director of Literacy; however, it is expected that the ideal candidate will have the ability to manage their work independently. Job Responsibilities Leadership and Content Specialist (55%) Manage the CAREIALL Professional Learning Program Monitor and oversee the CAREIALL budget Attend regular Read Act Leadership meetings Direct the work of literacy specialists and holds weekly meetings with project staff to trouble-shoot issues, prioritize tasks, and answer questions Oversee the creation, editing, and revision of asynchronous and synchronous professional learning sessions Identify, train, and supervise trainers for synchronous sessions Identify and train local district facilitators hosting live sessions Oversee the creation and continual refinement of facilitator guides for CAREIALL professional learning modules Develop and record webinars around facilitator guides Oversee the development and maintenance of recorded sessions for participants who miss sessions Manage the development of a "train the trainer" certification program for live trainers and oversee the implementation of the certificate program Support the work of the Assistant Director of Literacy, as needed Sales and Support (30%) Develop business plans with revenue and expense forecasts Engage in strategic development to increase funding with activities related to program development, grant-writing, external sales, and stakeholder development Develop and implement marketing and sales plans including creation of marketing and promotional materials Oversee product support Provides client consultation and support Oversee the CANVAS process Supervision (15%) Provide direct supervision to full time employees including up to six literacy specialists and a project coordinator Qualifications Required Qualifications BA/BS degree with at at least six years of experience in sales and product support in the area of literacy Evidence of attention to diverse identities in teaching or professional experience, and the commitment to support the University's work in diversity, equity, and inclusion Ability to develop and deliver professional learning in ways that effectively account for a variety of diverse backgrounds, communities, identities, and abilities Knowledge in theory, research, and the ractice of elementary and/or secondary literacy education Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience working with adult learners Prior CANVAS experience Familiarity with the science of reading Previous financial management experience including budget development and monitoring Ability to navigate complex processes and projects while managing time well and meeting deadlines Demonstrated leadership experience Proficient in various technology platforms such as google suite, virtual meetings spaces (i.e. zoom), multimedia software, etc. About the Department Department Overview CAREI is a well-established college-wide center that serves as the link between research and practice in Minnesota schools PreK-16 and other agencies interested in applied educational and social science research.
