Job Description
AMERICAN SYSTEMS Business Development team is seeking a business development summer intern! The purpose of our internship program is to offer candidates an overview of what a typical business development organization does and reinforce the skills you may need to pursue a professional career as a business development professional.
This a part time internship (approximately 20 hours/week) throughout Summer 2024. The internship will be mostly virtual with some in person meetings in Chantilly, Virginia.
As the Business Development Intern, you will:
Receive direct exposure to several areas of the AMERICAN SYSTEMS Business Development team, which is comprised of Account Management, Capture Management, Solutioning, Proposal Management, Marketing & Communications, and IDIQ Service Center Management
Obtain an introduction to common government market research concepts.
Gain familiarity with AMERICAN SYSTEMS' business areas and strategic solutions to the AMERICAN SYSTEMS policies, procedures and deliverables associated with our winning strategies.
Interact with various levels of management throughout AMERICAN SYSTEMS
A week in the life of the Business Development Intern includes:
Perform opportunity identification and customer research using online research portals.
Work with and learn about other functions within BD and outside of BD – Capture, Solutioning, Proposal Development, Pricing, Recruiting, etc.
Attend opportunity specific internal and external meetings in addition to attending the BD monthly review meetings.
Attend industry webinars as scheduled and internal lunch & learns as appropriate.
Support research requests for the Agile Acquisition Service Center
Receive training on Business Development processes.
Attend and support Servicemember Outreach and Referral (SOAR) events, such as military branch birthdays.
Prepare opportunity review slides (step 1 review) for a specific opportunity.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree Program in Business, English, Marketing, Commerce, or Economics
3.0 GPA or above
Proficiency in MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint), analytics, and presenting data efficiently.
Teamwork experience
Excellent written communication skills and the ability to work independently

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
