Job Summary/Objective
Our Services and Solutions business is a rapidly growing division of Southwire, serving electrical utilities across North America with an advanced portfolio of utility services and smart grid solutions that enhance the reliability and resiliency of the electric grid. This position supports our cable rejuvenation services, which utilizes our proven and advancing technology to rehabilitate previously installed underground electrical cables.
The primary role of the new Director of Business Development within the Southwire Services and Solutions business will be to lead and direct the sales and market development resources, drive sales revenue, sales profitability and meet or exceed budgetary objectives. Responsibilities include strategic planning, managing and developing the sales and market development organization, strategic customer interaction, and leveraging technology to improve processes for the Services business. This individual will create and execute the sales department go-to-market and operational strategies to achieve business objectives. Partnering with other leaders in the organization, the Director of Business Development will be a critical component to developing and executing the overall strategy for the business.
Key Responsibilities
• Create and implement a strategic sales plan and structure to support the business strategy, accomplishing both aggressive revenue growth and continued maximization of profitability
• Develop detailed sales analysis, forecasts and plans as part of the annual, monthly and quarterly business review and planning processes
• Provide leadership and development of internal sales resources and liaison with certain third-party agents supporting the business unit
• Actively track in CRM and report on key performance metrics related to sales activities and sales pipeline, cross selling and business goals providing regular updates to management with plans for optimization
• Provide direction on specific customer sales messaging, leveraging customer specific quantitative and qualitative insights and research
• Spearhead hiring and recruitment programs, while concentrating on performance evaluations and opportunities to develop key staff members as well as being a role model for the company culture at all times
• Anticipate and react quickly to trends and changes in performance and develop and manage sales department budgets
• Develop relationships with existing and potential customers, identify key threats and opportunities and implement plans to deal with both
• Foster greater coordination between the Sales Department and other functions so as to maximize any communication that could improve customer service, sales forecasting, pricing and deal closure success rate
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field required
Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales, preferably in Utility or Energy market
Must have strong customer relationship skills with ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated track-record of leading sales organizations, developing internal sales resources and driving results
Exceptional analytical skills and communication abilities
Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time
