Brief Strategic Family TherapistAbout the Program Graham Windham Intensive Prevention Program combines the Solution-Based Casework (SBC) method and the evidence-based Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) modality to promote child safety and well-being, reduce risks to children and youth, and prevent foster care placement.
About the PositionThe Prevention Brief Strategic Family Therapist works as part of a prevention team to promote child safety and well-being, reduce risks to children and youth, and prevent foster care placement. This intervention employs a team approach between the therapist, a case planner, the program supervisor and the model developer to engage the entire family into the intervention, while simultaneously remaining attuned to environmental and familial safety and risk issues. Program will offer 8 clinical hours.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develops and maintains therapeutic relationships with all family members.
Continuously assess for safety and risk issues.
Conducts weekly sessions with the entire family using Brief Strategic Family Therapy, predominantly in the home.
Provides services to a caseload of 10 families.
Strives to engage all family members and stakeholders in the family level treatment.
Participates in all aspects of the BSFT implementation including training, individual and weekly supervision, video and audio-taping sessions, and participating in evaluations of their competency.
Become certified in Solutions Based Casework within the first year of their employment, consistent with the agencys focus on implementing this model across all child welfare serving programs.
Submit all required documentation both ACS and BSFT in a timely fashion.
Using investigatory and social work skills, they engage and partner with families and community resources to ensure the safety and well-being of children
Complete family visits to conduct casework contacts and BSFT sessions
Engage in a strength based approach with families in order to assess their individual and collective strengths and needs
Interview family members and others who interact with the family to assess child safety and well-being
Assess the risk of future abuse or neglect of children in the family
If a safety concern arises, develop a safety plan with family members
Coordinate a team of family members, staff and service providers to evaluate safety and identify interventions that can reduce risks to children
Enter and maintain accurate and timely computerized records of all case information
Help families navigate government agencies and access entitlement benefits
Full-time position:starting salary at $65,000/annually.
