Broadcast Engineer
As a member of the Broadcast Engineering team at Major League Baseball you will be involved with the testing, planning, commissioning and support of broadcast related hardware, software and processes.
You should possess a functional knowledge of broadcast video systems and technologies as well as have a basic understanding of IP networking. You will work closely with third party vendors, other internal groups such as Broadcast Operations, Replay Operations and Networking, as well as outside contractors to integrate and support broadcast systems
This job is based out of our New York City office with four days per week onsite.
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to communicate effectively about technical issues
Ability to to create easily understandable documentation on new and existing systems
Proficiency with professional broadcast systems such as routers, switchers, multiviewers, encoders, decoders, or similar
Practical knowledge of industry standards such as SDI, AES audio, SMPTE 2110, Dante, h264, h265, or similar
Familiarity with IP networking
Ability to read CAD and signal flow drawings
Ability to create basic signal flow diagrams
Occasional travel to remote sites such as ballparks and data center
Ability to work in standard equipment racks
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Install, test, document, modify and repair hardware and software related to video and network devices.
Review nightly engineering reports and process requests for follow up support
Coordinate with, and assist Ballpark Operations team to troubleshoot MLB broadcast related hardware and software.
Provide support of video transmission systems, including routing, encoding and decoding, and other broadcast transmission related hardware
Be available nights and weekends as part of an on-call rotation
Monitor, analyze and rectify technical faults in a variety of broadcast systems
Testing and recommending equipment for future projects
Perform commissioning of broadcast systems, including software configurations
Create configuration and operational guides for hardware and software
Support and assist in integration of broadcast system updates at remote locations.
Perform preventative maintenance and updates of broadcast systems
Work directly with other departments or vendors to resolve technical issues
Provide regular status and system update reports to management.

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $70,000-$120,000
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision.
