Job Description
Performs a variety of duties related to scheduling of procedures.
Job Responsibility
1 . Receives telephone requests from Physicians, House Staff and Chief of Services to schedule cardiac procedures
2. Reviews schedule to determine times available and schedules procedure in accordance with established guidelines concerning length of procedure, conference schedules, staffing, procedural room availability, etc.
3. Makes changes in schedule and contacts Physicians, House Staff, Chiefs of Services and various departments to advise them of time changes, booking confirmations, etc.
4. Maximizes utilization of Room time by assuring surgeons awareness of all available procedural time.
5. Performs a variety of clerical and typing duties incidental to scheduling in addition to typing correspondence, records and reports; ordering stock and outside supplies; answering telephone inquiries.
6. Prepares listing of next day cases and forwards it to Admitting Office to obtain patient room numbers. Posts room numbers to surgical schedule.
7. Types and distributes the next day schedule.
8. Reviews booking sheets to obtain statistical data (e.g., procedure, proceduralist's name, etc.) and prepares various monthly reports.
9. Maintains various records, such as cancellations, bumps, request for time, unfilled block time, AM admits and others as required.
10. Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification
High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
Prior clerical experience required. Typing 55 wpm. Capacity to learn medical terminology and demonstrate acceptable proficiency with mathematical computations. Ability to work under pressure and deal effectively with departments and physician office. surgical booking/ SIS experience is Preferred
