Role Aim / Purpose
The ETF & Index Investing (EII) iShares Global Markets team is responsible for growing and protecting the trading of the APAC iShares product suite by actively monitoring and improving the ETF ecosystem. Professionals within the APAC EII Global Markets Team are passionate about leading all aspects of market quality in primary and secondary market ETF trading. By working alongside ETF market participants, which encompasses investors, liquidity providers, service providers, trading venues, technology providers, and regulators, the team seek to strengthen and advance the ETF trading ecosystem.
Role Description
This person will be a key member of the iShares Markets Coverage & Secondary Markets team within EII iShares Global Markets APAC. The position is for a markets coverage specialist focused on the commercialization of iShares ETFs across our wealth and institutional client bases plus the added responsibility to drive thought leadership by developing new content regularly on ETF trading mechanisms and ecosystem development and partnering with sales teams and ecosystem participants to provide education.
This involves deepening relationships with buy-side client execution desks, penetrating liquidity provider sales & trading desks, maintaining strong relationships with trading venues and data vendors, establishing business priorities, identifying growth opportunities, and driving key global & regional initiatives within the Markets team, in collaboration with EII APAC distribution, product strategy & investment strategy teams.
The Markets Coverage team is responsible for expanding ETF usage by working with iShares' clients across the APAC region around the nuances of ETF markets & trading, delivering ETF implementation expertise, Pre-Trade analysis, and analytic solutions.
In addition, this team member should be driving education & thought leadership efforts by actively developing new contents regularly on ETF trading mechanisms & ecosystem developments. He/She will facilitate sales engagement by analyzing ETF primary & secondary markets & providing market insights, trading expertise & execution guidance during client engagements.
This team member will need extensive financial market expertise, must have outstanding communication skills, be a self-starter, possess the analytical skills and ability to connect with a broad range of clients as well as internal partners such as sales and senior management both in region and globally. The candidate must be creative and solutions-oriented with an interest in international fixed income and equity markets. Finally, this person will be responsible for contributing to an inclusive, collaborative, and high performing work environment.
Responsibilities
Be an ETF trading subject matter expert and demonstrate in-depth product knowledge to promote ETF usage and differentiate iShares from competitor funds and other investment vehiclesAssist clients across various channels (institutional and retail) in achieving best execution when trading iShares by educating them on ETF liquidity and effectively communicating specific trading strategies and the associated costs.Provide pre-trade analysis & guidance, broker recommendations and facilitating trade executions. Partner closely with sales, traveling to client meetings as necessary, to provide product specialist support with a focus on trading.Enhance relationships with broker dealers, market makers & other core participants in the APAC ecosystem to promote & educate the usage of iShares ETFs as a financial instrument to existing & potential clientsWrite ETF focused market insight pieces and trading research for both internal and external audiences. Collect, analyze and extract meaning from ETF trading data in an effort to produce relevant content and drive inflow.Contribute to the enhancement of proprietary ETF technology specific to trading and relative value analysisDrive advancement and innovation within the ETF ecosystem, inclusive of new products, improvements in market structure, and infrastructure enhancementsMonitor articles, white papers, and blogs that highlight potential issues with ETFs and help to coordinate the proper response, making sure it is consistent with our global message.
Skills and Qualifications
7+ years of relevant experience working in a buy or sell side institution in a sales or trading capacityStrong background / knowledge or interest in the equity and fixed income market gained through a trading or sales roleExcellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.Resourceful, proactive and able to prioritize and navigate in a fast-paced highly energetic team-oriented environment and work effectively at various levels of an organization.Experience working on or leading strategic project teams and navigating complexities to meet timelines.Understanding of international securities markets and their related market structure including trading, clearing, settlement across equity and fixed incomeStrong financial analysis skills with a passion/interest for the equity and fixed income markets and financial instrumentsWriting and editorial skills combined with interpersonal and communication skills. Skillful in Microsoft Office, Bloomberg and Data Visualization toolsStrong Python skills preferredKnowledge of the Exchange Traded Fund ecosystem preferredKnowledge in Mandarin, Cantonese, or Korean a plus
