Description
Amazon's Traffic Insights and Analytics team is seeking a self-directed Business Intelligence Engineer to develop metrics and KPIs needed to measure the performance and health of our traffic programs. With over a billion product offers and ads worldwide, our programs are some of the largest across Amazon. This role operates as a subject-matter expert on business intelligence across traffic channels (Search, Social, Email, Push, and Creators), and will work directly with our advertising partners (e.g., Meta, Google, Microsoft, Tiktok, Pinterest etc), market intelligence tools and internal stakeholder teams to solve challenging data problems that impact traffic.
Key job responsibilities
Build out comprehensive metrics to measure operational health of Traffic programs
Drive continuous improvements in our business intelligence solutions to derive deeper and more accurate insights
Investigate and integrate data sources from across the company to enable holistic data analysis at a global level for our Traffic programs
Build the appropriate data visualizations for different metrics to allow quick understanding of our programs' health and performance
Develop automated monitors and alarms to detect anomalous data
Communicate insights based on data analyses to partners and leadership
Develop forecasting models and associated forecast accuracy metrics
About the team
Traffic Insights and Analytics organization is responsible for understanding the continuously evolving customer behavior trends and its impact on site traffic. Using data-driven strategies, we specialize in extracting actionable insights around traffic, through both internal and external data sources. We work in close collaboration with marketing channels (Search, Social, Email, Push, and Creators) to ensure a unified and holistic approach to traffic management. Our work has direct impact on business metrics for teams across Amazon – ranging from Retail Categories to Amazon Ads – where site traffic is a key input to managing ongoing performance as well as building forward-looking plans.

Basic Qualifications
10+ years of professional or military experience
5+ years of SQL experience
Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
Experience with AWS technologies
Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
