As our Benefits Manager, you will play a pivotal role in this mission, ensuring that our benefits programs are not just effective, but also a testament to our dedication to our employees' well-being and professional growth. The Benefits Manager will spearhead the development and administration of benefits programs that are not only highly valued and utilized but also cost-effective. These programs are designed to attract, engage, and retain a diverse and exceptional workforce. In this role, you will oversee the entire lifecycle of our benefits programs, from the initial research and proposal stages to implementation, administration, legal compliance, and evaluation of employee utilization and value.
Responsibilities:
Lead a dynamic team of benefits professionals at various stages of their careers, fostering an environment of learning, growth, and collaboration. Serve as the subject matter expert on benefit strategy, keeping abreast of market trends, legislative changes, and policy design. This includes proposing innovative benefit programs and conducting thorough market research and analysis for senior leadership consideration. Manage a range of benefits programs, including health and welfare, well-being initiatives, and leave administration, ensuring they meet employee needs and are adaptable for future enhancements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Benefits Consultant, Procurement, IT, Legal) in the RFP process for selecting new carriers/vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with legal and cybersecurity standards. Oversee the effective communication, marketing, and education of benefit programs to ensure optimal employee engagement and understanding. Conduct thorough cost-benefit analyses of proposed benefits or projects, aligning them with the company's strategic goals and ensuring efficient resource allocation. Address and escalate significant enterprise issues, seeking counsel from internal and external experts as necessary. Provide expertise in the implementation and upgrading of benefit administration software, including during annual open enrollment periods. Develop and manage the annual benefits budget in partnership with the Finance department, ensuring fiscal responsibility and corrective actions when necessary. Potentially manage compensation programs, contributing to a broad experiential development strategy. Helps to drive employee understanding and appreciation of benefits programs through clear documentation, communication, open enrollment, and education. Assists in supporting the employee value proposition with colleagues to drive destination employer messaging. Partner on recognition programs and future recognition programs with the leader of People Experience team. Other duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, including at least 1+ years in a supervisory/management role. Minimum 6 years of experience in health and welfare benefits management, with a preference for experience in benefits broker roles and managing service level agreements. Proven ability to manage and mentor a diverse team, including remote and in-office staff. In-depth knowledge of current health & welfare, well-being, and retirement medical programs. Strong understanding of legal and regulatory aspects of benefits programs, including ERISA, IRS regulations, ACA reporting, and other compliance requirements. Proficiency in leave administration, workers' compensation, and associated legal requirements. Excellent project management skills, with an emphasis on detail orientation and meeting deadlines. Experience in developing tailored benefit communication and educational materials for diverse audiences. Strong problem-solving abilities and communication skills, adapted to suit various audiences. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite, including MS Work, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, with additional experience in OneNote and Teams being advantageous. The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $92,000 - $196,500
