The Child and Family ServicesBehavioral Health Specialistprovides consultation to caseworkers and supervisors regarding children who present with behavioral health needs of all kinds. Primary purpose is to ensure behavioral health and developmental issues are considered and addressed for children who are active with DHS Child & Family Services, in order to minimize re-traumatization and promote better outcomes for youth and families. TheBehavioral Health Specialistwill work closely with FACT, Foster Care Intake and Home finding departments so support placement stabilization and keep focus on the appropriate use of congregate levels of care.
CCSI is partnering withMonroe County Department of Human Servicesto hirea Behavioral Health Specialist.This position is employed by CCSI and working on behalf ofMonroe County.
In this role, you will
Participate in consultation groups or individual meetings in which placements, including Therapeutic Foster care, Group Home, and Residential Care, are considered
Attend meetings with residential and other service providers as requested by casework supervisors, with goal of assessing complex challenges and contributing to stabilization planning
Utilize trauma-informed lens to inform service decisions
Compile, reviews, and summarizes mental health histories for children, as requested by supervisors
Maintain regular presence at community meetings that address behavioral health needs of children receiving child welfare services
Conduct assessments with family, foster parent and relative resource to discuss and support placement stabilization of youth
Develop expertise of community resources and interventions to support youth at risk of out-of-home placement
Successfully navigates cross system youth and families and leverages appropriate responses
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
MSW or other human services Master’s preferred, plus three years’ experience in children’s mental health, or equivalent education and work experience (see CCSI's equivalency chart (https://www.ccsi.org/CCSI/media/pdfs/Equivalency-chart.pdf) ).Additional Requirements
Satisfactory completion of all required background screenings.
Valid Class D New York State Driver License and access to motor vehicle to meet transportation requirements of position.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, as needed.
