The expected annual salary range for this role is $109503.0 - $160604.4 a year.

Eaton is seeking a Battery Management System (BMS) control system architect for its Battery Center of Excellence (CoE).
Eaton's Battery CoE accelerates the company's growth through the development of battery platforms that are battery-agnostic, scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable, as well as standardized design methodologies and tools that can be adopted by multiple business units, which provides a foundation for our business to more rapidly develop innovative products with energy storage.
The BMS control system architect is responsible for designing and implementing control strategies, algorithms, and firmware for battery management systems. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including battery system engineers, battery modeling and testing engineers, hardware and firmware engineers to create cutting-edge BMS solutions.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors in engineering or science from an accredited institutionMinimum 7 years of experience with Battery Management System (BMS) control system development
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's in engineering or science from an accredited institution Extensive knowledge of BMS hardware components such as sensors and microcontrollersExperience in project planning and trackingExperience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team membersExperience with different types of battery technology, their performance, and characteristicsExperience with safety, compliance, and regulatory standards (UL1642, UL1973, UL9540, etc.)Experience in BMS control and FW validation with HIL (e.g., OPAL-RT HIL)Experience with the development of control architecture, algorithms, (e.g., battery state estimation), and firmware (e.g., BMS FW architecture)Design for Six Sigma certification
Skills:
Position Criteria:
Lead the design and implementation of control architecture and algorithms, including protection features, for battery management systems, considering battery control hardware, cell and module configuration, thermal management, and compliance.Validate in the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and battery labs.Work closely with battery modeling and test engineers to acquire key battery parameters and optimize control performance. Create detailed technical documentation, including control and firmware architecture specifications, control algorithm descriptions, interface requirements, and design validation plans. Contribute to the development of the BMS control system roadmap.Lead the development of BMS firmware architecture, considering hardware interrupts, different task rates, and task sequences.Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to seamlessly integrate control algorithms and firmware into BMS hardware and Bilingual in English/Korean or English/ChineseProficiency in programming languages such as C/C++
