Facebook's global network, comprised of cutting-edge platforms, is looking for a Network Engineering Manager to join the Backbone Engineering team. This team is responsible for designing, deploying, and operating one of the world's largest and most advanced optical global networks. In this role you will work closely with other engineers with a wide variety of deep technical expertise in software, systems, IP, and Optical networking to drive forward innovation and expansion of our network. This position is full-time and located in our London office.

　　Backbone Production Network Engineering Manager Responsibilities:

　　Manage engineers working to build and support multiple network systems for our Backbone network infrastructure used by billions of users all around the worldPartner closely with global design, deployment, and operational teams to build and maintain software systems for network management, monitoring, and analysis for our multi-vendor backbone and metro networksHelp define and drive regular development of the technical roadmap to meet the needs of the team, and partner teamsHelp engineers develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work stylesAssess employee performance frequently, address under-performance, and recognize and promote excellent performanceWork closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employeesCommunicate cross-functionally and drive engineering effortsOperate in a rapidly evolving environment, adapting quickly to new information and re-prioritizing as neededMinimum Qualifications:

　　BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience5+ years' experience managing technical network related engineering teams, including performance management experienceKnowledge of networking and distributed systemsExperience in network management systems for large-scale networksExcellent communication skillsExperience initiating and driving projects to completion with minimal guidance and communicating insights and ideas across organizationPreferred Qualifications:
