This new leadership role will lead a recently combined data science and analytics team to deliver end-to-end analytic and machine learning solutions across P&C and Group Benefits Operations and the Customer Journey.
You will work closely with business leaders, partners and your team to develop and execute on the analytic strategy, multi-year roadmap, and deliver capabilities that drive continuous improvement and step change innovation enabling exceptional experiences and operational outcomes.

Specific responsibilities include
Collaborate with business leaders and partners to understand their short and long-term goals, develop and advance the data & analytics strategy, and lead the execution of foundational investments and innovative solutions to meet those goals.Promote agile and iterative development through cross-functional teams to provide the appropriate analytic solution to meet the business problem, spanning across basic analytics, deep-dive diagnostic and trend analysis, and advanced AI solutions.Lead and develop a team of 25+ data engineers, analysts, data scientists and asset owners. Create an engaged and inclusive culture that draws and retains talent and establish operating rhythms that maximize synergies of the combined team.Establish a vision, priorities and develop talent to advance the analytic maturity, platform and engineering capabilities to enable data-driven decisions at scale and compete with future market trends.Deliver actionable insights to business segment, operations, finance and executive leaders and respond to questions on ongoing business results and budgeting inputs.Educate on analytics opportunities and advance a data-driven culture that leverages data whenever possible to enhance business efficiency and effectiveness.Partner with reporting teams and business leaders to advise advanced monitoring metrics and leading indicators.Remain current on industry trends as well as state of the art data, analytic, modeling and AI techniques.
Qualifications
10+ years experience in Analytic or Data Science function or related field. A minimum of 5 years P&C insurance experience and successfully leading teams.Demonstrated ability to stand up a new org/team and establish new operating rhythms. Strong understanding of the business end-to-end and the customer contact points through sales, service and claim.Proactive individual, who challenges existing processes and demonstrates critical thinking skills by approaching business problems from different angles and applying reasoned judgment.Operates effectively with all stakeholders in a matrixed environment, with an ability to build strong partnerships and influence others, particularly with senior-level business partners.Exceptional communication; Ability to see through the data and turn complex data into a compelling, clear story that carries across functional areas for consumption by both technical and non-technical audiences.Ability to work autonomously, with a strong attention to detail and balance multiple priorities.Experience in large scale operations environments (Claim Centers, Call Centers, etc) a plus.Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Quantitative Economics or other similar analytical field.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
