Description
Under general direction, the Lead Aircraft Electrical Systems Engineer will be responsible for activities involved in engineering and design of advanced fighter aircraft systems. This position requires application of sound engineering principles to participate in the program management, research, design, development, installation, test, and analysis of new and existing aircraft systems. The Lead Aircraft Electrical Systems Engineer will provide support for the rapid modification, verification, and fielding of new and innovative technology in high-performance fighter aircraft.
Responsibilities
Design, test and troubleshoot aircraft systems to include wire tracing and reverse engineer utilizing electronic measuring tools and test equipment.
Review and approve electrical and mechanical technical drawings and other aircraft systems documents.
Provide support for the rapid modification, verification, and fielding of new and innovative technology.
Collaborate with maintenance, modification teams, pilots, and program management in support of mission systems.
Support airworthiness approval process utilizing MIL-HDBK-516 and FAA Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR).
Ensure conformance with U.S. DoD Communications Security (COMSEC) and Transmission Security (TRANSEC) methods and procedures.
Maintain continuous learning, education, and awareness of aircraft components and systems.
In-depth knowledge and skill in electronic drawing design and block diagram layout.
Knowledgeable in commercial and military avionics systems including hardware, software, antennas, and interfaces.
Solid understanding of AC and DC electrical power and RF, analog, and digital signals.
Ability to troubleshoot aircraft electrical and electronic systems and reverse engineer electrical components and systems.
Ability to properly handle classified materials, manage files, and maintain records in compliance with standard or required recordkeeping practices.
Ability to plan and carry work through to completion with accuracy and strong attention to detail.
Knowledge of proper use of government classified networks, telephone, and email practices and etiquette.
Requirements
Technical Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, or Science; OR, a combination of training, education, and experience in a relevant field or industry may be considered in lieu of degree.
5+ years of demonstrated experience updating and modifying high-performance aircraft and aircraft systems.
Strong computer skills with ability to utilize various software and applications (Microsoft Office 365) for creating documents and reports, spreadsheets, presentations, publications; CAD design using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Demonstrated experience in design, review, and approval of engineering documents and drawings.
Experience working with and designing electrical drawings, circuit schematics, and block diagrams utilizing computer-aided drawing tools.
Valid state driver's license.
US. Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance
