JOB SUMMARY“Automation Process Engineer” job is to support the manufacturing operation in the engineering capacity with emphasis on automated manufacturing processes and continuous improvements. Responsible for the assigned respective medical device manufacturing automation for mechanical, electrical, electronics, and/or software troubleshooting and maintenance to achieve the operational excellence. Automation Process Engineer is responsible for leading the work of Lead Tech and Automation Technicians engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment. Provide training of automation technologies to the technicians, and the end user.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports disposable medical device manufacturing automation equipment in areas of Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, and Software Application.
Knowledge of the ultrasonic welding is a plus.
Expert in performing a variety of diagnostic troubleshooting activities, and maintenance activities on assembly automation equipment to maintain daily production and assembly operations.
Performs, and directs/assists lead technician and equipment technicians in electrical, electronic, mechanical, ultrasonic welding, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
Provide ongoing direction and training on process development, root cause analysis and systematic problem solving.
Ensure use of the set up/alignment and maintenance procedures.
Able to perform all aspects of machine maintenance and become cross-trained in all areas of assembly equipment in the trainer capacity.
Requires drafting of design drawings, preparation, and development of user manual, creation of the set up/alignment and maintenance procedures.
Create, and periodic review/update work instructions or documents related to automation machine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and the set-up/alignment, and functionality work instructions/procedure to ensure they are in alignment with best practices.
Interface and provide technical support on quality issues to address the NCMR, Customer Complaint, and CAPA.
Responsible for the maintenance program, spare parts inventory, and maintain software backups for the assigned automation.
Recommends measure to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Identifies and implements the equipment/process continuous improvements. During Project implementation oversees the preparation, monitoring and evaluation of equipment set-ups, manufacturing layout, validations, and process changes and/or corrective actions.
Develops and implements the continuous improvements to achieve efficiency, quality, and/or cost improvements for existing product lines.
Offer new ideas and suggestions for improvement. Identify and implement new practices and processes that are “best in class.”
Performs equipment installation and end-user training.
Evaluate and provide input to test method development and inspection processes via inspection aids and instruction guidelines.
Prioritize and balance workload of multiple assignments based on business and functional objectives.
Ensure compliance to safety, quality management and validation procedures and policies.
JOB QUALIFICATIONSKNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Advanced knowledge of equipment/automation mechanical/electronics/electrical/software application and ultrasonic welding.
Knowledge of automation equipment assembly and installation.
Ability to lead the work of Equipment Technicians and Lead Technicians
Knowledge and experience of automated assembly equipment in continuous operation/manufacturing environment
Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required.
Training of Ultrasonic welding is a plus.
Knowledge of SolidWorks and Auto-CAD is plus
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two-year technical degree in the Electro-mechanical discipline with 4-6 years relevant experience required.
Or, Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electronics/Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 2-4 years relevant experience required.
Experience in Class 2 disposable medical device manufacturing and validation, or sustaining engineering or equivalent
