Chewy is currently recruiting for Facilities Lead Maintenance Technician at our Reno, NV Fulfillment Center. You will have the opportunity to apply your unique experience to support the fast-paced operations of our dynamic fulfillment center environment. This position is responsible for a wide variety of facilities, maintenance, and utilities requirements across a large fulfillment center.
What you'll do:
As a acilities Lead Maintenance Technician, you will act as a senior material handling technician on all equipment installed at a specific site location. You will aid in mentoring lower- level technicians. In addition to that, you will be a key technical subject matter expert on multiple fronts that ensures high equipment availability rates. You will use preventative, predictive and reliability centered maintenance processes, be able to quickly troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, and rapidly restore equipment to service. You will lead other service technicians, design solutions for difficult problems, lead outside contractors, validate quality of work, handle multiple projects, and meet timelines. Work directly with building leaders to optimize material handling equipment, and work with a sense of urgency. You will collaborate with others to perform root cause analysis for equipment failures, and fix systematic issues using attentive observation and predictive diagnostic tools. You will have an advanced understanding of system controls logic and troubleshooting techniques. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.
Successful Candidates in this role will:
Be an extension of departmental leadership ensuring continuity with Facility Area Managers guidance and all elements of policy.
Develop training plans for service technicians
Mentor technicians by motivating, providing guidance and directions to help them achieve their goals.
Ability to provide enriched feedback to enhance individual performance
Lead and audit Preventive Maintenance procedures/practices
Develop work plan for emergency repair of critical assets. Work plan to include coordinating with operations managers, locating parts/tools for repair, and scheduling time with equipment, etc.
Maintain and troubleshoot all electrical and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site, including conveyor systems, sortation, robotics, and AutoStore Systems.
Reset, repair, or replace adjustable components (belts, chains, cables) and wearing components (guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, pulleys)
Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment
Use appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals
Adjust scanners, cameras, scales, and printer applicators (PANDA)
Maintain and troubleshoot motors, photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, encoders, etc.
Programmable Logic Controls troubleshooting
Conduct maintenance and troubleshooting of AutoStore Robots. Quarterly and Biannual cleaning, functional checks.
Utilize handheld devices or desktop PC to create and close Work Orders with appropriate data (labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used)
Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization
Follow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards

Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head
Walking within and around the site with great frequency (Up and down several flights of stairs).
Ability to climb ladders safely and without limitation, and work off platforms and equipment at significant heights
Full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists, eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation)
Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and or uneven surfaces
Ability to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours
Qualifications:
Able to manage, lead, and influence others on the team.
Leadership experience/aptitude, ability to mentor and develop training plans for other service technicians.
PC competency and ability to use handheld devices
Highly proficient with wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measuring
Experience in the following areas:
Work order management
Preventive/predictive maintenance procedures
Advanced blueprint and schematic reading
Metal fabrication and welding
Industrial Controls and Electronics
Ability to troubleshoot Input/Output functions
Proficient understanding of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs
High school diploma or equivalent
Desired Qualifications:
Degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field or 5-10 years hands on previous experience in related field.
Experience with automated conveyor systems and controls
Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards
Experience with robotic operation/ maintenance

This position is responsible for understanding the freight process and equipment necessary for successful shipments.
What you'll do:
Ensures that freight is loaded properly in trailers for shipment to customers.
Work with Operations and local delivery vendors to ensure we are making adjustments to the process to ensure the 100% delivery success. (ie more sweeps)
Familiar with the sorter process and audits packages to ensure that it is working correctly.
Work with Scheduler to ensure delivery vendors are providing trailers on time, pulling on time each and every time. Ensure that trailers in the yard are being prioritized correctly and that nothing is left behind or taken to the wrong facility.
Act as a SME on the shipment process and partner with Operations on ensuring its success.
Audit the process and document any delivery issues. Work with Operations and transportation to ensure solutions are defined and implemented.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need:
1 to 3 years warehouse / distribution experience; specifically related to outbound shipment experience preferred.
Strong written, verbal, analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team.
Effective verbal and written communications skills..
Microsoft Excel and Outlook experience required.
Ecommerce background is a plus.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 65 lbs. and bend, lift safely and repetitively
Ability to read, comprehend and carry out simple instructions from oral instructions or written correspondence

Compensation & Benefits:
Our hourly range for an Automated Facilities Lead Technician position is approximately $25.96-$43.51/hour. The specific hourly range offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k.
