Job Overview
The Athletic Trainer Resident is an entry-level athletic training positionwith clinical program development and educational responsibilities within theChildren's Hospital Colorado. This position will have a primaryresponsibility of supporting the physicians and staff with patient care in theSports Medicine Center and Orthopedics Institute in compliance with HIPAA(Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and JCAHO (JointCommission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations).

Department Name: Sports MedicineJob Status: 1.0 FTE/40 hours per week -- eligible for benefitsShift: Position is for one calendar year. Monday - Friday between normalbusiness hours with minimual nights and weekends.
Qualifications
Education: Masters Degree in Athletic Training or a related field isrequired.Experience: 2 years experience as an Athletic Trainer required.Certification(s): Certified as an Athletic Trainer by the Board ofCertification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers and Basic Life Support (BLS)Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies(DORA) Licenses for Athletic Trainer; Valid Colorado Driver's License.This position may require a BLS certification from the American HeartAssociation. Performs a physical examination of patient following the collection anddocumentation of the patient's medical history and briefs the attendingphysician The performance of concise and relevant presentations to theattending physician.
Orders diagnostic studies or other referrals under the direction of the attending physician.
Coordinates various aspects of the patient's care by answering treatmentplan questions, scheduling physical therapy appointments, schedulingdiagnostic imaging, providing instructions on symptomatic control, andinformation on scheduling surgery.
Provides initial rehabilitation exercises and the instruction,demonstration, and feedback on a patient's performance of the exercises asdirected by the attending physician.
