This position requires a strong command of fundraising principles, a high level of organization, professionalism, and a familiarity with the objectives of annual and unrestricted-gift fundraising.
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style are essential.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Other computer literacy required; must have experience with Windows and databases.
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and goal-oriented environment.
Must have the ability to innovate, think strategically and conceptually, manage multiple projects, and handle difficult situations.
Must be able to listen as well as to influence and persuade others. A self-starter who can work effectively as a team member and promote collaboration in an environment of accountability.
Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change.
Proven ability to motivate, engage, and work with alumni and members of the Harvard University community, including high-level donors and leadership volunteers.
Superior written and verbal communications skills.
Additional Information:This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA based campus 2 days per week. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager.

Solicit, recruit, and retain annual volunteers, manage peer-to-peer solicitations, and communicate regularly on fundraising education, strategy, and progress
Work across Development to identify strong and diverse pool of potential new Class Agents; implement process for new Class Agent recruitment, orientation, and ongoing training
Conduct conference calls with volunteers to educate, motivate, and inform their activities
Strive for 100% HBS Fund participation among Class Agents through direct solicitations and/or in partnership with Reunion and Leadership Giving Officers
Manage volunteer peer-to-peer solicitation assignments for the HBS Fund Council and Investors Society Class Agents
Oversee and direct work of Development Coordinator/Assistant to develop lists for review and potential assignments for leadership-level prospects
Meet with volunteers to review possible solicitation assignments and oversee work of Development Coordinator/Assistant to ensure review, clearance, and coordination of potential assignments
Track giving to the HBS Fund from key HBS volunteer groups, mainly the HBS Fund Council, Board of Dean’s Advisors (BDA), and HBS Alumni Board:
In an effort to reach 100% HBS Fund giving among these groups, proactively track giving and share updates with group liaisons on a regular basis. Partner with group liaisons to strategize ways to increase participation among these volunteer leadership groups.Maintain focus on HBS Fund and Investors Society:
Coordinate with Senior Director, Reunion and Leadership Giving, and Senior Associate Director, HBS Fund, to monitor, review, and analyze HBS Fund goals, sub-goals (such as Investors Society/Innovators Circle), and progress toward goals, revising strategy as needed
Manage end-of-calendar-year and end-of-fiscal year frontline outreach to lapsed Investors Society members to help drive membership
Post-50th Reunion class coverage:
Actively recruit fundraising volunteers for reunion classes, as needed
Send monthly fundraising updates to recruited volunteers
Work with Alumni Marketing and Communications to coordinate appeal letters and planned giving solicitations
Coordinate with Alumni Reunion Program liaison to manage reunion weekend activities
As needed, provide interim class reunion campaign coverage for Reunion and Leadership Giving (RLG) officers due to extended leaves of absence; managing fundraising committees and executing frontline fundraising activities in line with reunion gift strategies:

The position will drive strong annual fundraising volunteer activity to grow membership in the HBS Fund Investors Society, the School’s leadership annual giving society.
They will oversee and grow the HBS Fund Investors Society (IS) Class agent program, a group of annual fundraising volunteers that span multiple class years and focus on leadership annual gifts. They work closely with staff to identify, recruit, and manage diverse non-Reunion IS Class Agents.
The Assistant Director will help advance annual fundraising goals of the HBS Fund and HBS Fund Investors Society through direct cultivation and solicitation and through proactive partnerships with colleagues across departments.
