  DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for identifying and escalating potential privacy and/or compliance issues to the Manager.  Maintains an awareness of and reporting on applicable federal and state privacy laws and accreditation standards, as well as monitoring advancements in information privacy technologies. Establishes and maintains a mechanism to monitor, track, respond to and report on privacy requests/issues. Partners with other colleagues to ensure the company has and maintains appropriate privacy and confidentiality consents, including but not limited to, Business Associate Agreements, Data Use Agreements, and Member and Authorized Representative forms.  Responsible for vendor management activities, including assisting with the review and certification of company vendors and assisting with the development of corrective action plans in cases of potential vendor non-compliance. 

  RESPONSIBLITIES: * Assists with all aspects of HIPAA privacy inquiries and the member rights process, including the authorization, personal representative, and confidential communications processes.  * Ability to lead, manage, initiate, facilitate and promote activities to foster information privacy awareness within the organization and related entities. * Supports proactive and strategic initiatives of the Privacy Office, including enterprise-wide privacy and incident response training, data oversight process implementation, and the tracking of privacy trends to ensure loss prevention and privacy incident avoidance. * Assist with vendor management activities, including analysis of vendor Business Associate Agreements, and assisting with the development of corrective action plans in cases of potential vendor non-compliance.    * Assist with the review and processing of member data requests to release data to external recipients.   * Assists with group requests involving the release, storage, transmission, destruction, security, sharing, and any other use of Personally Identifiable Information ("PII") and/or Protected Health Information ("PHI"), to ensure full coordination and cooperation under the organization's policies and procedures as well as state and federal law.  * Responsible for assisting with privacy office audits, facilitating corrective action plans (if necessary), compiling audit summaries, and escalating compliance issues to the Manager.  * Responsible for maintaining department documentation in accordance with the records retention policy. * Other duties as assigned. * Additional duties as needed: * Prepare and/or provide analysis and Q/A of impacted member reports for data security incidents.  * Prepare/modify reports of team activities and statistics for Leadership.  

  QUALIFICATIONS: * Undergraduate degree preferred although commensurate work experience and applicable skill set will be considered. * Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a corporate setting preferably in a managed care, legal, and/or privacy regulatory compliance environment. * Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively with a team on multiple, simultaneous projects and demonstrate strong leadership skills. * Demonstrated ability to define business solutions, make decisions, identify problems, coordinate resources and implement changes. * Proven effective communication and analytical skills required to covey complex ideas in simple way to both internal and external customers. * Demonstrated ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and follow through on project life cycle while meeting target deadlines on multiple, simultaneous projects. * Effective facilitation and presentation skills necessary to demonstrate business solutions in a clear and concise manner. * Must be a good writer, organized, and detail-oriented. * Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.  Ability to create/modify dashboards and reports pre erred.
