The ability to interrogate novel biology and generate a deeper understanding mechanism of action are critical to the success of drug discovery. We seek an innovative high content imaging expert to develop and leverage imaging techniques to impact human health across multiple therapeutic areas. In this role, you will:
Lead our automated high content imaging platform, ensure operational excellence in the laboratory and collaborate closely with data scientists and IT colleagues for data solutions.
Collaborate cross functionally as a key resource to enable users to best leverage high content imaging technology as well as advise on cell painting best practices, data interpretation and decision-making.
Drive innovation in the high content imaging space in terms of new technologies and applications, integration with other data sets, advance image and data analysis pipeline and collaborate with data scientists to derive novel biological insights from imaging data.
Leverage expertise in imaging to collaborate with Oncology, Metabolic Disease, Neuroscience, Immunology and Infectious Disease discovery teams to validate human disease relevant models and develop robust methods to support early discovery.
Design and execute cell-based experiments using pharmacological and genetic perturbations in physiologically relevant cell systems to increase mechanistic understanding of novel targets and drive target validation efforts.
Establish strong relationships, function, and communicate effectively within highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams to effectively drive early drug discovery initiatives.
Required Qualifications/Education:
Expertise in high content imaging including cell painting is required. Required skills include: novel method development and execution, plate-based instrumentation (i.e. Revvity Opera Phenix Plus) and automation operation and troubleshooting, and image analysis.
Background in cell biology and experience successfully developing quantitative cell-based imaging assay development to interrogate novel biological phenotypes is required.
Strong understanding of biological concepts and the generation of novel biological insights for new mechanisms and targets.
A track record of independent and team-based achievements in conceiving new ideas, designing and executing experiments, troubleshooting, and making agile data-driven decisions to drive projects.
Excellent attention to detail and strong communication (oral and written) skills.
Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Cellular Biology, Chemical Biology or related field with 5+ years of experience, or M.S. with 8+ years of experience post-degree or B.S. with 11+ years of working experience in a pharma, biotech, or academic setting post-degree.
Preferred Experience and Skills
Expertise in image processing and embedding methodologies, neural networks, machine learning, data dimension reduction methodologies is a plus.
Preference will be given to candidates experienced in cellular assay development leveraging disease and physiologically relevant models (e.g., primary cells, iPSC-derived cells, 3D cell culture).
Highly self-motivated and capable of prioritizing deliverables among multiple projects.
