What You Will Do:
As an Associate Manager, Test Lab Operations, under the guidance of the department leadership, you will run the Test Lab Operations group and provide day-to-day leadership to team/teams tied to the commercialization of products through testing activities. This position will work closely with the Associate Test Engineering Manager and lead a highly skilled team to support predictable and efficient test management for Stryker Instruments. The successful candidate will be required to build and sustain strong working relationships with the business units we support, keep up-to-date key department metrics, and make recommendations on resource allocations, forecasting, and ensuring their team is prepared to fully support the needs of the business.
Technical / Managerial Responsibilities
Execute a robust talent offense by attracting, developing, retaining, and engaging top talent while driving personal/professional growth of individuals, and the team and delivering high-quality results with passion, energy and drive.Proactively drive positive outcomes to technical, business, and personnel problems.Make decisions under guidance for project-level issues.Leverage strong listening skills and written/verbal communication to influence and convey business, regulatory compliance, and/or technical ideas to customers, employees, peers, external partners, and senior leaders.Support a culture of diversity, inclusion, and belonging at a team level in hiring and staff development.Lead projects and initiatives within the business unit, with responsibility for planning, budgeting, meeting project goals and adequately staffing with top talent.Support and mentor others in complex cooperative efforts across cross-functional teams, influencing one's own technical areas of expertise and building key relationships, to drive innovation and ensure achievement of business goals.Interview, hire, train, develop and retain top talent while ensuring a pipeline of talent is established for future roles.Drive a positive culture of collaboration with business unit stakeholders and cross-functional R&D teams to support predictable New Product Development activity.Coordinate with cross-functional teams to drive proactive NPD planning accuracy and efficiency on an ongoing basis.Provide input to active and future R&D testing support and evolution of the overall testing process in partnership with R&D and internal NPD Operations departments.Will ensure consistent practices within the department related to product verification, test equipment development, report writing, and communication methods.Will work with internal SMEs on test protocol assignments using established systems. This is to include, pre-review, assignment, and post-approval of Test Request, including final sign-off.Will be required to comply with documentation procedures and appropriate engineering standards.Responsible for direct reports on all compliance-related activities and driving best practices.Will coordinate with the Stryker Instruments business units to ensure appropriate tests, analysis, equipment, and results are obtained and communicated effectively and efficiently.Provide feedback on department strategic planning.Drive financial accountability across the direct teams. Participate in cost center budget creation, projections, and tracking activities.Lead a team and cross-functional counterparts to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulatory requirements for a specific project/program.Follow and set an example for others on procedures and design controls.Review and approve (or delegate) program/project-specific technical documentation and deliverables.
What You Need:
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or applicable technical field.6+ years of experience in a highly regulated environment (Med Device/Pharma/Automotive) with 0+ years direct people management experience preferred.Excellent mechanical/electrical/software problem solving skills.Relationship builders with strong interpersonal skillsDemonstrated Project management skills

Technical Skills:
Good level of understanding of, experience in, and ability to mentor in one's own technical / functional disciplines.Effective math and technical writing skills
Leadership Experience:
Talented performance coach who is skilled at providing actionable feedback to team members, setting clear performance objectives and managing team member performance.General knowledge of the healthcare market and testing processes.Experience executing a talent and performance management strategy.Demonstrated ability to communicate plans and technical information to team members within a business unit.Proven ability to deliver programs or other business goals on time, on quality and within budget.Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, wrenches, etc.), power tools and common test equipment (e.g. data loggers, strip recorders, micrometers, etc.
