The Benefit Strategies team consists of individuals that develop strategic plan design/positioning recommendations and support financial forecasting for new and existing plan sponsors (and their consulting/brokerage partners).

Primary Responsibilities:
Each Benefit Strategist serves as a market-facing subject matter expert, partnering with sales and account teams to:
Educate stakeholders on how Surest uses our unique actuarial plan design and tech-enabled health-system navigation to drive behavior change Provide insight on how to forecast the Surest impact on member and plan spend by developing and presenting analytic work and using actuarial models to interpret and predict the Surest plan performance vs. more traditional plan Develop plan design change recommendations that support the continual evolution and enhanced performance of existing Surest plan offerings Support, troubleshoot, and enhance the tools and models used in day-to-day work, including mid-market modeling and stop loss quoting Generate client-specific actuarial outputs for select clients, including IBNR and other actuarial compliance items

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline 5+ years of experience in a health benefit financial/pricing role, including roles performing or providing oversight of forecasting, benefit pricing, rate setting Experience as a medical benefit strategic lead on one or more 5,000+ employee group, including capturing employer priorities and developing innovative strategies to meet those needs Experience with approaches and practices that analyze, model and trend benefit data identify waste, inconsistencies, and opportunities in benefit programs drive process improvement Familiarity with health plan analytic principles, practices, and techniques to interpret plan experience and utilization data A record of developing and implementing new benefit strategies, programs, policies, and procedures A solid understanding of risk management practices within health care and benefit operations Data manipulation and presentation skills, including MS Excel & PowerPoint Ability and desire to build relationships externally while collaborating with sales teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Actuarial Qualifications, ASA or FSA Experience working as Benefits Consultant for large and jumbo employers Experience working with or for Health Tech companies Solid presentation and communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to build relationships with HR leaders Ability to navigate new and emerging situations with efficient and accurate problem solving skills Demonstrated leadership in managing projects and developing resources training and guiding others in performing the work required project management principles and practices

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $101,200 to $184,000 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
