Position Details:
Loyola University Maryland is seeking an Associate Director Operations for the Recreation and Wellness Department.
The Associate Director of Operations provides management over the areas of facility operations and protocols, risk management, facility rentals, general maintenance, purchasing, staff supervision, membership management, budget planning, assessment, and oversight of instructional programs. Provides departmental leadership and direction in all regards to building operations and administration. Contributes strategically to departmental goals and to Student Development objectives by providing leadership development and operational oversight for the well-being of students.
Essential Job Functions
Fitness & Aquatic Center ( FAC ): Provide leadership, direction, and support to the day-to-day facility operations, maintenance, repairs, construction/renovation, and risk management. Develop, implement, and assess operational practices, procedures and protocols, and business practices in compliance with the University.
Fiscal Management & Membership: Assist the Director with budget management including direct oversight of purchasing, repairs and maintenance of the building and exercise equipment, and all other inventory. In conjunction with the Director, oversee revenue generating business practices are in compliance with University policies and procedures. Oversee and manage the FAC’s sales goals and the student, alumni, faculty/staff, and community memberships
Staff Oversight and Management: Provide direct supervision to the Assistant Director of Operations and Aquatics. Provides ongoing weekly and bi-weekly meetings to provide oversight and guidance regarding job responsibilities, administrative questions, and ongoing professional development.
Policy & Risk Management: Responsible for operational policies and procedures within Recreational Wellness in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Advise all personnel on the development and implementation of strategies and training of emergency response protocols and procedures, internal & external communication, and assessment; as well as potential areas of regulatory concern, and new government/regulatory developments including required training of all personnel.
Facility & Event Management: Develop, implement and lead special events and/or programming to engage students and University community members. Manage a comprehensive schedule of departmental and non-departmental programs at the FAC ; including formal and informal recreation. Partner with Student Engagement and Residence Life to provide opportunity for activities.
Departmental and Divisional Contributions: Serve in the absence of the Director as a department leader for various meetings and functions. Assist the department and Director in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and goals.
Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 5 years of related experience.
Experience in any or all of the following areas: facility operations, memberships, facility/group reservations, risk management, and/or budget management in a collegiate recreation setting. Experience in student development, professional development and staff management.
