TITLE: Associate Director, Corporate Banking, US Energy
DUTIES: The Bank of Nova Scotia seeks Associate Director, Corporate Banking, US Energy in Houston, TX to demonstrate strong business acumen by assisting with client relationship management. Efficiently addresses US Energy (spanning upstream, midstream, downstream, oilfield services, and chemicals industries) client inquiries and requirements. Establishes and maintains an effective network of internal and external contacts; Actively participates in client meetings along with the Relationship Manager. Occasionally attends client meetings without the supervision of the Relationship Manager; Completes post-meeting follow up, including preparation of call reports (Salesforce) and follow up material that may be required as a result of information discussed during client calls; Contributes to cross-sell activities including across Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Foreign Exchange, Derivatives Products Group, Commodities, Global Business Payments, and Sustainable Finance; Completes deal review memos to pitch new business ideas to senior management, including opportunities such as, but not limited to, new or increased lending facilities, acquisition financing pitches, trading opportunities (commodities, IRS), etc.; Analyzes material associated with new and existing client/prospect opportunities, including profitability returns analysis, deal due diligence, and legal documentation review; Takes leadership for responsibility from an execution standpoint of account management and internal credit presentations (including completing client and industry due diligence) and loan documentation review (Credit Agreements, ISDA's, Reimbursement Agreements); Reviews work product of junior team members and provides value add commentary to develop talent. Coaches, mentors, trains, and guides junior talent including new analysts and associates.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related and 5 years of progressively responsible experience: utilizing financial products including DCM, ECM, FX/Commodity hedging, Trade Finance, Cash Management, to facilitate opportunity identification and pitching of products to clients; applying knowledge of North American and Global Energy Markets including upstream, midstream, downstream and petrochemical sectors; structuring, negotiating and reviewing loan (revolving and non-revolving, secured and unsecured) terms; documenting new and existing transactions including review of loan, security, collateral, guaranty, ISDA documentation; identifying potential subordination issues for derivative and other ancillary product lines; identifying and assessing suitability of new transactions including making and presenting risk rating recommendations and taking the transaction through the credit approval process; maintaining and monitoring of accounts including annual reviews, compliance, and portfolio stress testing and adherence to internal and external lending guidelines and regulations. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site. 10% travel required. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master's degree in one of the above fields of study and 3 years of experience in the above listed skills.
