Position Overview
The Portfolio Communications Associate Director will develop and execute the public/media relations and communications strategic plans for the Exact Sciences Precision Oncology Business Unit (POBU). This role will maximize the impact and reach of Exact Sciences externally focused content and expand media awareness and coverage of the POBU, its portfolio of cancer tests, pipeline, leaders and overall efforts. The Portfolio Associate Communications Director should have experience working with and understanding clinical trial data sets, scientific key opinion leaders, advocacy groups, and medical societies. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience launching/introducing new cancer tests/therapies to the market and the ability to translate novel, complex health care technologies into terms easily understood by members of the media and targeted audiences. This position if primarily (80%) focused on external audiences, specifically all areas of media, however the role also encompasses close coordination with internal and executive communication functions (20%) within Exact Sciences.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop and execute public affairs campaigns that are aligned with business objectives to drive awareness of the POBU among an evolving landscape of key audiences.Collaborate closely with the marketing team to support its vision and goals for the Exact Sciences POBU and reinforce those brand positions across a variety of communications channels.Develop plans to publicize and communicate trial and study data published via abstracts, peer reviewed journals or press releases/media outreach.Serve as spokesperson for the POBU and Exact Sciences.Partner with the Advocacy and Alliance Relations to activate key advocacy groups to support communications around major announcements.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong public presence.Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.Maintain regular and reliable attendance.Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as needed.Ability to travel 15% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in business administration, journalism, mass communication, digital communications, marketing public relations or field as outlined in the essential duties.7+ years of progressive experience in public relations, media relations, or related positions, preferably in a highly regulated industry.Experience working with and building relationships with different media channels.Experience with media and message training of key opinion leaders and corporate executives for print and broadcast interviews.Experience managing a public relations agency and driving consistent outcomes under a specific budget.Record of success developing a network of local or regional media contacts and delivering consistent results.Evidence of consistent professional progression throughout career.In-depth knowledge and experience developing strong, clear and measurable public relations strategies, goals, and plans that are aligned with driving business outcomes.Ability to align a public relations strategy with marketing campaigns.Strong knowledge and experience in strategizing and implementing targeted social and digital media programs.A proven track record of collaboration across multiple functions in a fast-moving professional environment.Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Business Administration or field as outlined in the essential duties.Experience in oncology innovation communications.

Salary Range:
$161,000.00 - $258,000.00
The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - CA - San Diego on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
