The Retail Business Development Specialist will be responsible for providing additional client-facing sales coverage within the assigned territory in partnership with the territory’s Advisor Consultant (AC).
The focus of the role is to provide pro-active business development support within the region, specifically focused on assigned clients/branches. In addition to working with the territory AC, this role will partner with other Hartford Funds’ resources (sales desk, marketing, SRM etc.) to deliver a positive client experience, increase market share and grow mutual fund/ETF assets within the territory.
This role will be based in the covered territory and is dedicated to increasing the in-person visibility of Hartford Funds within the financial advisor community.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with AC and Divisional Sales Manager to develop and execute on the assigned clients overall business plan
Leverage competitive intelligence information through partnerships with our research team to optimize relevant campaigns
Work with teams/managers to strategically develop and implement advisor segmentation, foster new relationships, provide first-class customer service, drive sales, increase market share, and retain AUM
Through all communication vehicles (phone, in person, emails), responsible for articulating Hartford Funds’ value proposition, delivering practice management strategies, market intelligence, product information and solutions based consulting
Enlist the help of Strategic Relationship Management to drive firm messages and optimize firm data
Work with marketing to develop tailored messaging for the assigned client group to maximize email marketing campaigns
Utilize sales support to complete administrative tasks and other routine territory needs
Demonstrate phone sales success with a strong call structure, an organized sales process, and rapid identification and anticipation of client needs to make strong financial recommendations.
Engage, communicate, and understand pertinent product and company information to assess financial needs and suitability with Hartford Funds financial solutions, philosophy, objectives, and positioning
Keep current with economic, industry, and market news, and client sentiment
Maintain contact management system (CRM) to track all calls and conversations
Resolve service and other business related issues
Effectively deliver MIT AgeLab content to clients
Adherence to all compliance regulations and guidelines including use of approved marketing materials, fund prospectus requirements, and proper licensing
Ideal Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum 5+ years of sales experience within a financial services firm
Deep knowledge of Mutual Fund and ETF products and vehicles required
Superior communication, consultation, and listening skills to identify sales opportunities, suggest creative solutions, and manage challenging discussions with sophisticated clients to quickly establish rapport for future business development
Extensive investment product knowledge and understanding of financial concepts, and the ability to articulate a variety of investment topics ranging from fundamental asset classes to fixed income solutions
Strong client and internal relationship management skills to manage and track complex business development campaigns
A passion for success and performance at the highest level in a fast-paced, incentive-driven environment
Enthusiastic team player and self-starter with an ability to multi-task, assess, and prioritize business opportunities
Mastery of all technology/tools i.e.: Salesforce, Clearslide, Morningstar, zephyr style advisor, Bloomberg, Factset etc.
FINRA Series 7 & 63 required
Must live within the greater New York City area
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$65,000 - $65,000
