Job Description
The College of Business, Engineering, and Technology (CBET) at Texas A&M University-Texarkana invites applications for a 9-month tenure track faculty position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Computer Science. This position will begin in Fall 2024. CBET is accredited by both AACSB and ABET. In addition to an existing graduate program (MBA), we are planning on building a STEM designated undergraduate and graduate programs in Business & Data Analytics. Faculty at Texas A&M University-Texarkana are required to conduct scholarly activities, work cooperatively with others, and contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community.
The position carries a 4/4 course load with the possibility of teaching summer courses. Courses would include introductory, upper-level, and graduate classes in Computer Science in both traditional classroom settings and online.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach undergraduate and/or masters level courses through various modalities in Computer Science (CS) and related disciplines like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analytics (DA), Computer Information Systems (CIS) etc.
Demonstrated ability or potential to conduct quality scholarly research in peer reviewed journals.
Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines.
Contribute to curriculum and course development.
Serve on department, college and university committees assigned by the Dean.
Advise students.
Provide service to the department, college, university, and community.
Maintain knowledge and stay abreast of current trends in learning with research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching.
Other duties as assigned by the Dean.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Computer Science (CS) or a closely related field from an accredited university (ABDs with confirmed doctoral dissertation defense dates will also be considered at the rank of Instructor until the doctorate is conferred).
Commitment to high quality teaching, dedication to high standards, and student success.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals.
Demonstrated ability or potential to conduct scholarly research.
For the rank of Associate Professor, commensurate teaching, and research experience.
Eligibility to work in the U.S. at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in CS/AI/DA/CIS from an AACSB or an ABET accredited college/university.
Ability and experience to teach courses in one or more areas of Computer Science, Networking, Security, Artificial Intelligence, Mobile App Development, Database, Data Analytics, and programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, Kotlin, HTML5, etc.
A relevant certification in one of the areas mentioned above and/or relevant industry experience.
Experience in teaching upper or lower division courses and graduate classes at the university level utilizing current supporting technologies.
Record of scholarly activities like publications of peer review research articles in quality journals
Experience directing or coordinating CS-related grant activities.
