Reporting to the Vice President Claims Legal, the Assistant Vice President will be responsible for leading large-scale initiatives, continuous improvement and change management to streamline and ensure consistent business practices across The Hartford's 600-person Claim Legal operation. The AVP will also be responsible for data analysis and reporting for the Claim Legal operation. Specific responsibilities will include:
Strategic Initiatives:
Lead and manage key initiatives and special projects for the Claims Legal organization including process improvement, DEI and technology-driven initiatives. Improve the customer experience through ensuring consistent and efficient business practices across all Claims Legal offices.Collaborate and partner with business stakeholders to establish a vision and create a culture of process excellence and continuous improvement across the Claims Legal organization.Develop communication plans using storyboards and analytic insights to explain and present results and recommendations to leadership.Partner with Legal, IT, Claims, Actuarial, and business analytics to understand business requirements and priorities. Proactively identify opportunities and provide analytics-based insights with actionable recommendations.Take insights from external industry trends and data analytics to create robust training for our Claims Legal organization.
Data Analytics:
Monitor and analyze key operational performance indicators and determine appropriate interventions to address variances.Identify and assess the value of new data sources and analytical techniques to ensure ongoing competitive advantage, in particular utilizing Passport and Wolters Kluwer panel counsel related products.Execute deep-dive quantitative and qualitative analysis of the drivers of litigation expense.In partnership with business analytics teams, create and apply models of predictive legal trends to intervene on current process and procedures. Provide operational and loss trend insights for claim and business leadership.Stay current on market trends for data utilization and visualization tools with a heightened focus on AI-related tools.
Qualifications:
JD with a track record leading large-scale initiatives, continuous improvement and change management at a private law firm or with in-house legal organization.Proven experience developing and driving transformational initiatives in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment.Understanding of AI and its application to legal operations.Experience applying analytics to solving real-world business problems for legal operations.Solid experience using in Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, Power BI and Tableau for analysis and reporting.Active learner who continuously seeks information on the interplay between the legal and medical professions.Trusted, credible advisor; Able to build and maintain productive relationships, influence outcomes and collaborate for success in a matrixed environment.Exceptional communication skills. Able to create story boards and key messages.Strong critical thinking skills; Able to successfully leverage information, logic and creativity to make and influence decisions.Strong proponent of inclusive behaviors for self and others.Member in good standing with applicable Bar Association.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
