NORTHAMPTON SEASONAL 6 WEEK POSITION JUNE 22-AUGUST 4 AssistantResidential Manager Job Description The Residential Life portion of thePrecollege Programs helps participants acclimate to living on a collegecampus by providing a safe and welcoming environment, fostering strongrelationships with peers and mentors, and maintaining an atmospherewhere participants are taken seriously and inspired to excel. PrimaryFunction Assist the Residential Manager in overseeing and supervisingthe Residential Life portion of Precollege Programs at Smith College.Manage a house of participants and staff. Assist in supervising housemanagers and Smith College undergraduate assistants. Maintain highhealth and safety standards, including following the Smith College MinorSafety Plan and Precollege Program Policies and Protocol. Ensure thatactivities and social events align with Smith College\'s mission. Assistin communicating and coordinating directly with parents and guardians,the Health Center and Academic Directors when necessary. Act as theResidential Manager in their absence. Details This is a full-time,seasonal, six-week position, running June 22 - August 4, 2024.Thirty-five to forty hours per week, including room and board. The rateranges from \$22-\$25 per hour and is commensurate with experience. Mosthours are in the evenings. Weekends required. There are 5-10 hours ofmeetings and training prep work (timing negotiable) before June 22.Living on campus through the duration of employment is required.Participation in all health and safety protocols is required. Housing isfor employees only in a residence hall with shared entry. Work on the4th of July is required. The position is not eligible for holiday pay.Minimum Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree required. At least two yearsof experience working as a residential supervisor in a high school,residential program, or college setting. Leadership and managementexperience required. First Aid and CPR certifications are required.Essential Job Functions 65% House Management: Manage a house ofprecollege participants and undergraduate student workers. Supportparticipants as they adjust to life on campus - including interventionand mediation of conflicts. Help establish opportunities to uniteparticipants to foster an understanding of diversity, inclusion andequity and promote youth empowerment. Plan weekly house manager meetingsand other meetings as needed. Be a role model to all staff in yourattitude, behavior and work ethic. 35% Support House Managers andUndergraduates: Mentor and guide House Managers and Smith Collegeundergraduates in their staff positions, including in their mentorshiprole with participants. Help provide framework and feedback to promoteequity, inclusivity and community within each house. Assist in leadingtraining sessions during house management and all-staff training weeks.
