The Department of Art, Communication, and Theatre at SoutheasternOklahoma State University seeks to attract culturally and academicallydiverse applicants of the highest caliber who are qualified teachingartists for a tenure track, Assistant Professor of Theatre Directing andActing. Preference will be given to candidates with a background indirecting, acting, and/or playwriting at the Assistant Professor and/orprofessional level. Applicants are required to have an M.F.A. or Ph.D.in Theatre from an accredited university.
The candidate will be expected to teach classes in directing and actingwith additional courses available within the candidates areas ofinterest. Course load for the candidate will be based upon the needs ofthe department. A typical teaching course load will be three courses anddirecting of a production in fall and four courses in spring. Thecandidate will be expected to direct production(s) as assigned inconsultation with the Director of Theatre. When available, the candidatewill have opportunity to teach courses during summer. Theatre atSoutheastern will continue to make diversity, equity, and inclusion acommitted part of our selection process.
The successful candidate must be committed to excellence inundergraduate education, theatre training, and theatrical production.Candidates should be able to show expertise in stage directing andcollaboration. The ability to further develop the Theatre program andimprove student recruitment, is preferred. Additional preferredqualifications include experiences maintaining a symbiotic relationshipwith the students, department, university, and community.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and rank.The anticipated start date is August 1, 2024.
