Marriott International is seeking to hire an experienced Assistant Project Manager (with a design & construction focus) excited to support and grow with our Mid-Scale - Design & Project Management team in partnership with the most ambitious franchisees in the hospitality industry. The ideal candidate will:
Know how to support commercial real estate projects that execute on smart design.
Know how to manage and present executive summaries of design and construction progress.
Is well versed in design & construction processes, a quick thinker and thrives in a dynamic, fast paced team environment.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS…
Support a volume-driven process that facilitate design reviews, milestone site observations, on-strategy project outcomes, along with account-based pipeline data management and forecasting.
Foster high-level team collaboration and communication skills, you’ll ensure internal teams (Development, Openings &Transitions, Fire and Life Safety / Risk Management, etc.) are moving towards a common strategic goal of “Guest-focused Design, Owner-focused Results”.
Support Design & Project Manager processes in a growing portfolio of franchise project accounts in their development of new build / conversion Marriott Mid-Scale Branded projects
Coordinate the processes and delivery of Mid-Scale with the Select Brand project teams with a focus on data management, schedules, and quality standards required by the organization.
Assist team in researching solutions to issues and communicating resolutions.
Promote value-added project decisions for Franchisees and Marriott utilizing construction industry experience, team collaboration and communication skills.
Develop relationships to provide consistent communications to ownerships, internal stakeholders, and hotel management teams.
Support all aspects of the project delivery process with Design, Development, Procurement, Owner / Franchise Services, Risk Management, and various other departments
Utilize a proprietary database / project management software to track multiple projects for accurate reporting and forecasting to internal stakeholders.
Promote the use of Marriott standards management and document storage platform with Owners/Franchisees and their consultant teams.
Coordinate new project Kick-offs and or brand orientations with Design, Project Management, and internal disciplines / various other departments for participation.
Establish a detailed knowledge and ability to support on brand strategy projects through close coordination with internal team disciplines.
Responsible for supporting the coordination and documentation of milestone site observations with Project Management.
Actively support and participate in evolution of project delivery documentation, lessons learned, and best practices.
Key Skills/Requirements:
Review of project schedules; tracking and construction documents.
Knowledge of procurement processes from Bill of Materials and FF&E Management.
Consultant contracting and scope management.
Exposure with preparing bid packages, contracts, and material orders.
Exposure to the processing of payment requisitions, material submittals/shop drawings, and change management requests.
Development of monthly construction project reports.
Knowledgeable about innovation within design/construction industry
Strong business acumen and customer service skills
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Ability to build & maintain strong working relationships
Ability to negotiate and be flexible when appropriate
Ability to work in a hybrid (in person/virtual), fast-paced, team-centric work environment
Ability to prioritize and balance workload as an individual contributor across various teams/projects on a week-to-week basis
Proficiency in utilizing mobile application platforms across multiple devices
Proficient in using Microsoft 365, Excel, MS Teams & Adobe products, Project & Database Management Software (e.g., MS Project, Procor, or sim.)
Education/Certifications:
4-year degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture or Engineering preferred, or equivalent work experience within the industry
Minimum 1-3 years progressive field construction experience preferably in the hospitality industry.
LEED/Green certifications encouraged
Applicable professional licenses/certifications encouraged
