The Department of Youth Services’ (DYS) mission is to protect the public and prevent crime by promoting positive change in the lives of youth committed to DYS care and custody, and by partnering with communities, families, public, and provider agencies toward this end. For additional information about the Department of Youth Services and its programs please watch: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gyP0kCJ181nBakh9Cc0pNNEyPw7kAoI6/view _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive):_ ● Assist DYS Director of Health Services with planning, organization, and oversight of the Health Services statewide operations to protect and promote the health and well-being of all youth in DYS residential programs by ensuring access to high-quality and equitable public health and healthcare services. Assist DYS Director of Health Services with developing and implementing Health Services policies, procedures, protocols, standards of care and work priorities. ● Monitor Regional Health Services performance management plans and quality improvement initiatives as developed by the Health Services Director and communicate compliance with Health Services Director. Collect and ensure receipt Department's health data for program assessment and planning. Assist with implementation and monitoring of the Electronic Medical Record System. ● Review medication occurrence reports from DYS residential programs as received by the regions and review for accuracy, issues and trends and communicate to Health Services Director to determine response. ● Coordinate DYS- mandated trainings for contracted health care providers. Coordinate prevention and health education programs for youth and staff in DYS residential programs. Monitor training on injury prevention and control on topics like prevention of concussions and sport related injuries. ● Monitor infection prevention and control measures in DYS residential programs. ●Assist with the oversight with mobile dental and optometry services contracts, collecting data on number of visits, quality of visits and general responses and communicate with Health Services Director to determine response. ●Maintain positive working relationships with community partners, national, state, and local organizations, and stakeholders. Serve as acting Director of Health Services in the absence of the Director or as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. _Preferred Qualifications_ ● Experience providing health care to diverse range of adolescent and young adult populations. ● Familiarity with juvenile justice system in Massachusetts.
