Job Description:
This role, reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Reporting, is a key leadership position in the Financial Accounting and Reporting group. As Assistant Director of Accounting, you'll oversee vital financial functions, including patient and contractual revenue accounting for the FCPA. Your responsibilities involve coordinating revenue and collection reporting processes for over 50 clinics at UF Health Physicians. You'll interpret and implement processes to ensure accurate accounting of patient accounts receivables in FCPA's financial statements. This role is crucial for the proper safeguard and record keeping of general journal and cash receipt entries and serving as an administrator managing the access to FCPA’s banking information.. Financial Management
Manages the financial record keeping, reporting, and other accounting functions of the Florida Clinical Practice Association, Inc. (FCPA). This includes the proper recording of all cash receipts and general ledger journal entries, the safekeeping of all transaction records and support and building new accounts, subaccounts and cash manager entry identifications. Sets monthly closeout deadlines and supervises the development of the work papers associated with the general ledger and the trial balance. Compiles and analyzes information needed for monthly financial statements along with other reports needed by the College of Medicine and its leadership. This individual acts as liaison between clinical departments and financial services regarding general ledger and income statement requests. Recommends changes to general ledger policies and assists in developing policies and procedures associated with the FCPA financial statement reporting. Communicates directly with College of Medicine personnel concerning policy and procedure changes and monthly deadlines. Analyzes monthly financial reports and develops necessary work papers that support certain FCPA external annual audit requests.
Revenue and Banking Liaison
Serves as liaison between the FCPA and the UF Health Physicians Billing and Accounts Receivable department and ensures that patient billing and receivable transactions recorded in Epic are correctly reported in the FCPA’s financial statements and ledgers. Develops policies and procedures necessary to manage the reporting of patient A/R and ensures compliance with state sales tax and unclaimed property laws. Coordinates the reconciliation of transactions within EPIC Patient Accounting System and the various FCPA bank accounts. Works closely with clinical and departmental staff to develop necessary procedures to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Supervises three accountants responsible for daily reconciliation of patient front desk clinic deposits in the FCPA’s bank account to reports generated by the Epic Patient Accounting System.
Serves as a liaison for the FCPA’s banking relationships and serves as an administrator managing the access to FCPA’s banking information. Prepares automated clearing house (ACH) paperwork for companies that pay the FCPA by ACH rather than check. Responsible for placing stop payments for FCPA checks when required and maintaining supporting records.
Complete Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and AAMC Benchmark Surveys for the College.
Management Coordination
Works closely with College of Medicine departments, Shands Healthcare personnel and other outside agencies to ensure the receipt of accounts receivable. Supervises the monitoring of payments from Shands Healthcare and works closely with departments to ensure proper recording and receipt. Prepares invoices as needed for services provided by College of Medicine Dean’s Office to outside agencies and entities. Analyzes the FCPA accounts receivables on a monthly basis and prepares reports used by management in contract negotiations. Works closely with departments during the year-end process to compile accounts receivable reports for the FCPA audited financial statements.
Reconciliations
Manages the monthly reconciliation of approximately $60 million in transactions within the Florida Clinical Practice Association, Inc.’s bank accounts. Works closely with the Accounts Payable department in order to facilitate the reconciliation process.
Prepares monthly investment entries for activity associated with the FCPA’s $27 million plus investment portfolio, monthly reconciliation between the portfolio and the general ledger, and ensures compliance with authoritative accounting pronouncements and the FCPA’s investment policy.
Budget Analysis
Work closely with the Director of Accounting to prepare monthly actual to budget reports for all funds for the College of Medicine which has an annual revenue budget in excess of $900 million. The position shares responsibility with budget team for the design, implementation, and administration of the OneStream consolidation system which integrates all UF funds, Practice Plan, and University of Florida Foundation actuals and College budget. This includes playing a lead role in ensuring the reports are accurate, timely and adhere to University accounting policies. Responsible for various financial analyses for the College of Medicine.

Expected Salary:
$85,000 - $110,000
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
A minimum of four years’ experience in accounting, healthcare or business environment is preferred.
Excellent working knowledge of business-related software programs.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
