  Job Overview

  The Assistant Director for Digital Marketing provides vital support to the Annual Giving team in achieving their primary objectives of increasing donor growth, retention, and acquisition through digital channels. They work closely with the Senior Associate Director, Digital Marketing to create, manage, and execute marketing projects for a variety of school and unit partners and support university-wide campaigns and email marketing automations. As well, they monitor, update, and report on email and digital channel performance for Annual Giving fundraising efforts and use results to guide strategy, budget, segmentation, and messaging/themes.

  The Assistant Director is responsible for the business operations of the Digital Marketing team, including tracking for one operating budget, as well as maintaining appeal codes and online giving forms for the university.

  Additionally, they provide critical support for managing the Office of Advancement’s crowdfunding platform, including email inbox management and partner support.

  Work Interactions

  The Annual Giving team within the Office of Advancement drives donor acquisition, retention, and growth for Georgetown University through traditional and innovative direct-response marketing strategies, in-depth analysis, and strong internal partnerships. The team is composed of three functional areas: data and analytics, marketing operations, and school and unit partnerships.

  The Marketing Operations team reports centrally to Annual Giving, and the Assistant Director for Digital Marketing reports to the Senior Associate Director for Digital Marketing and has important partners that include the Office of Advancement Communications and Annual Giving Unit teams.

  Requirements and Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree

  1 to 3 years of practical digital marketing experience - preferably in a university or non-profit setting - or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

  Proficiency in Excel or other data management tools

  Experience with email marketing platforms - such as Salesforce

  Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications (particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Google Suite

  Preferred Qualifications

  HTML coding experience and experience with data analysis and presentation

  Strong organization and time management skills and attention to detail

  Desire to contribute to and participate in the mission of Georgetown University

  Experience engaging constituents through strategic digital marketing communications

  Professional and collegial demeanor and ability to exercise diplomacy

  A working knowledge of digital marketing systems and best practices and the ability to contribute to exercises of process review and development

  A track record of high achievement and meeting or exceeding goals

  Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience writing and evaluating marketing copy for various subjects

  Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meet all deadlines and goals

  Experience navigating and utilizing a customer relationship management system or donor database.

  Experience monitoring budgets, including detailed expense and income reports
