Description We are in search of an Assistant Controller to join our team located in MOUNT VERNON, New York. The primary function of this role involves overseeing key finance and accounting operations and implementing strategic changes. The Assistant Controller will also play a crucial role in maintaining a comprehensive end-to-end accounting and forecasting cycle, while ensuring compliance and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
• Providing leadership and support to the finance and accounting operations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and achievement of departmental goals
• Producing recurring financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and other ad-hoc financial analysis, including supporting workpaper documentation
• Playing a pivotal role in the annual financial audit process, government grant audit process, and lender reporting process
• Managing internal controls surrounding treasury management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and other significant financial elements to ensure validity, completeness, and accuracy
• Supporting the development and implementation of performance management processes that drive accountability and growth
• Designing and implementing training programs that enhance skills and align with company and department objectives
• Collaborating with leadership to define and promote core values, ensuring they are integrated into daily operations and interactions
• Ensuring adherence to income tax, sales tax, highway use tax, and other various compliance requirements
• Managing credit risk through the use of analytics and credit insurance. Requirements
• Proficiency in using Accounting Software Systems, major ERP
• Familiarity with Concur is a plus
• Knowledge of Crystal Reports is beneficial
• Prior experience with DCAA is required
• Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions
• Ability to manage Accounts Payable (AP) effectively
• Expertise in handling Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience in Auditing is mandatory
• Proficiency in Billing Functions is necessary
