JOB TITLE: Assistant Packaging Development Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

It must engage the consumer, reflect the brand proposition, and deliver a delightful experience. Furthermore, to ensure the robustness and technical performance of new packaging before it enters the marketplace, it involves both design and technical innovation in packaging. This role will be responsible for managing and delivering packaging solutions. The person in this role will be responsible for providing/delivering superior packaging innovations, cost-efficient packaging solutions, and driving Unilever's packaging sustainability efforts to improve Unilever Pakistan's packaging footprint.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILTIIES:
Job Responsibilities:Lead the design and development of structural packaging components (primary, secondary, tertiary) following Unilever's Packaging Excellence best practices and One Unilever Packaging Process (1UPP).Scope packaging solutions, establish project schedules, implement packaging design solutions in manufacturing units, and validate new packaging components.Drive packaging innovation for the category and actively contribute to project teams, managing multiple projects and tight timelines.Identify and implement cost-saving activities across the category's packaging portfolio.Prepare and develop supplier technical briefs, ensuring new packaging is rigorously tested and validated, with the ability to interpret and act on results.Build strong relationships with suppliers and packaging industry experts to deliver cost-effective and innovative packaging solutions.Oversee the development and qualification of molds to ensure packaging is fit for purpose.Maintain comprehensive technical data records, including project data, specifications, and test results.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive projects from concept to validation testing of pack platforms.Manage and deliver sustainability projects aligned with the business agenda.Evaluate packaging based on consumer and customer needs, new technologies, and market competitors.Lead and execute tests and trials at laboratory or factory scale, contributing to risk assessment and risk management plans for projects.Support related company functions in resolving packaging-related supply chain, quality, and consumer issues.Provide technical specifications and BOM creation for packaging components in SAP PLM, interfacing between MM and PP modules.Ensure compliance with the Unilever Code of Business Principles, SHE, QA policies, and environmental awareness, including support for product claims and risk managementEXPERIENCE & KEY SKILLS:
Job Requirements: University degree in Engineering or Science, preferably in Mechanical, Industrial & Manufacturing, Chemical, or Polymer disciplines.Minimum 3-4 years of experience in R&D Packaging Development, relevant Technical Supply Chain functions, or the Packaging Industry.Proficiency in packaging technologies, including corrugated, cartons, rigids, and flexible packaging, as well as knowledge of mold fabrication.Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to manage changes within projects.Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Packaging Development & Technical systems, common Business Tools, and Databases such as SAP MM & PP, CAPE, and AutoCAD.Effective communication skills and a collaborative, business partnering mindset.Leadership capabilities, a strong business acumen, and a sense of ownership with a focus on delivering results.Unilever is an organisation committed to equity, inclusion and diversity to drive our business results and create a better future, every day, for our diverse employees, global consumers, partners, and communities.
