  Summary:

  A Maintenance & Utilities Apprentice is needed to assist with various tasks related to the upkeep and repair of our manufacturing facility and equipment. While working under the direct supervision of a supervisor or highly trained technician, our apprentice will learn invaluable skills in a hands-on and fast-paced environment.

  Primary responsibilities:

  Support other maintenance staff with special projects and tasks as needed

  Assist with minor repairs and troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, and mechanical issues.

  Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies and tools.

  Assist with routine inspections and preventive maintenance of buildings, systems, and equipment.

  Follow safety procedures and regulations and report any hazards or incidents.

  Assist senior mechanics with parts checkout and parts cleaning

  Additional responsibilities:

  The Maintenance & Utilities Apprentice may be assigned to work in a different departments and must be able to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment.

  Knowledge, skills, & abilities:

  Ability to use common hand and power tools and follow instructions.

  Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

  Basic knowledge and skills in the areas of refrigeration, electrical, instrumentation, and/or mechanical systems

  Requirements:

  Must be a current community college/technical school student who has satisfactorily completed a minimum of one year of an Associate's Degree program in an Engineering, Refrigeration, Instrumentation, Welding, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical, HVAC, or related curriculum. An overall GPA of 2.5 or higher is required. Candidate must be a student at all times during this internship with the exception of regularly scheduled breaks (i.e. spring, summer, fall, holidays, etc.)

  Experience preferred but not required.

  Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level typically requires an Associate's degree plus 2 years of experience, an equivalent could include 4 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree.

  Occupational demands:

  Must be able to lift heavy parts (50 lbs +), wear a respirator, and work under hot and cold conditions.
