  Locations: Cheltenham, Ipswich, London

  Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you may be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

  You are responsible for contributing to the design and deployment of new bespoke systems as well as supporting and maintaining existing ones. You may also contribute innovatively to the development of new products, and process improvement initiatives. This role will require working as part of a team, supporting colleagues, and collaborating with internal or external customers.

  What you’ll do:

  You will work under general direction within a clear framework of accountability. You will have responsibility for designing, delivering, and implementing aspects of software solutions for GSS internal and external customers. Simultaneous involvement in several disparate projects is likely, therefore the ability to adapt and multi-task is essential.

  You will plan your own work in line with general direction to meet given objectives and processes.

  You will work with 1st- and 2nd-line support personnel, providing 3rd-line support to resolve incidents and service requests in line with SLAs to enable continued system operation.

  You will identify and communicate opportunities that assist with setting technical direction, with respect to best practice for domains of operation.

  What you'll bring:

  Software engineering experience within the IT industry.

  Ability to take responsibility, ownership, and autonomy of delegated deliverables.

  Understanding and experience of the software lifecycle from requirements capture to deployment and support.

  Understanding of DevOps and agile team methodologies.

  Degree-educated or equivalent industrial experience.

  You may also have:
